Rap and HipHop are out - period!  Other than that, any band whose lead singer does not have to make up for his lack of singing talent by screaming.

Widespread Panic,Phish,The Grateful Dead, Moe.,Allman Bros.,Robert Randolph and the Family Band...  as far as bands i listen to alot. Never played the same show twice, and most songs are a little different every time you see or here them live. WSP,Moe. encourage taping at their shows just like the dead did.

Metallica ( Before And Justice For All )

Led Zeppelin

Creed

Michael Jackson ( Bad and earlier )

John Denver

1st five fav's I could think of...

I will turn 40 in june, my wife just turned 27.  Music tastes vary around here.  I like music, not noise!!

EDBASSMASTER:  I agree with you 100% about Prince.  He's not only an amazing showman (Did you see him soaking wet at the SuperBowl?), but he's also a very talented musician and songwriter.  No laughing here (unless its on one of your vids...)

My list:

Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Allmans, Dead, Phish, SRV, Muddy (Waters, not the mook :) ), Nat King Cole, Dylan, CCR, Bob Marley, Thelonius Monk, Beach Boys, Van Halen, James Taylor, Joni Mitchel, Sarah Vaughn, Miles Davis Nonette, CSN(Y), Phish, Blues Traveller, OMD, DMB, REM, Police, Robert Johnson, String Cheese Incident, God Street Wine, Jimmy Buffet, The Band, Little Feat, ToP, Taj Mahal, Sly and the Family, Parliament/Funkadelic, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Herb Alpert, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Cream, Traffic, Blind Faith, The Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, The Cure, Depeche Mode, DuranDuran, James Brown, Aretha, The Commitments, Etta James, Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie, Riders of the Purple Sage, Howlin' Wolf, Dave Brubeck, Kiss, Metallica, Judas Priest, Zebra, Black Sabbath, Sugarloaf, Foghat, ELO, Earth, Wind and Fire, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Chaka Khan, and about a million more...

I agree with PRINCE he is a brilliant writer, and is constantly connecting the older classic styles with his present day funky licks. Panamoka I DIDNT ADD SO MANY BECAUSE HE SAID BANDS it felt funny leaving my all time favoorites Like MUDDY WATERS,BB KING, DR.John, Professor Long Hair,Thelonious,Dizzy,Max Roach and on and on because they played with so many But you and I have similar ears, must be the NY thing!!

When it comes right down to it, I like just about any music as long as its done well and with passion.  Heck, I even listen to George M. Cohan now and again (Ok, so I just watched Yankee Doodle Dandy, but I was listening while I was watching...)

Pearl Jam

Audioslave

Nirvana

The Who

I could spend all day on this!

And Prince is definitely a great musician and a great showman!

I said it befrore, but i'll say it again

Wow 4bizz, I thought I might be the only person around who likes heavy metal and classic outlaw country.

haha...

The cd's in my truck range from outlaw country (Cash, Haggard) to Beastie Boys, to Eddie Arnold...so I'm not necessarily particular.  My favorite band currently howeer would have to be Godsmack.

I really like all kinds of music.

Black label society   Phish

wide spread panic    Grateful dead

Johny cash     Rage against the machine

Jay-z   Charlie Daniels   Hank Sr. and J.R.

Black Sabbath

Metallica

Tower of power Paul Wall

James Brown

PRINCE

There are a ton more I'm a music person. I've probley been to 500 concerts in my short time and anyone who does'nt think prince is talented hasn't given him enough of a chance saw him at the new boston garden like 2 years ago one of the best shows I've ever seen. He was with Maceo parker if anyone gets the chance to see him live I highly recommend it. I like alot of blues, mo town, metal, Jam bands. I'm a 1/2 breed so there was alot of music around the house. My mom a 100 lb white hillybilly from W.V. and my dad is 250 lb big black dude from G.A. a little like the odd couple but a diverse source of music none the less...

Sorry my answer is so long.

                                                                                                  Stroz

Most of you guys said what I said, except you were much more explicit.  I love music, not noise.  BTW, my favorite pop group - the Eagles,
