texas rig

Featured Replies

hey yall. ive recently started fishin more in the past few months in some grassy lakes. my hooks always seem to get hooked on the grass under the water. one guy told me to try the texas rig, with the hook inside the worm. i know how to make the rig, but if the hook is inside the worm, how do you hook the fish? i probably sound really dumb but id like to make sure it does work well and if there is anything i have to do anything different to hook the fish. anything would help!

When you set the hook, the hook will pop out and hook the fish, make sure you set the hook hard though...

What kind of hook are you using?

Make sure it's an offset worm hook.

yes you definitely need an offset hook for texas rigging.

to answer you question, when the fish clamps it's mouth on the worm/softbait the hook will be pushed out the top side, exposing the hook.  Well thats what is supposed to happen  ;D

Mustad Straight Shank Denny Brauer Flipping Hook :)

Is that for flipping grass and brush or is it for everything?

Except really thick plastic like a senko or thicker   :)

Run the hook through the plastic then squeeze the plastic so you can push the point of the hook back in.   :)
