They played mostly old stuff, a bit of Texas rockin blues!

Next up is Leon Russell this Saturday.

I've seen them twice, once in Reunion Arena, and the other in the Cotton Bowl (along with Colin James, Steve Miller Band, and Santana).  Glenn, I have to agree that their older music (pre-synthesizer) is their best.  Hookem, I'd like to see them in a smaller venue like that.  One of the best concerts I've ever been to was The Fabulous Thunderbirds in college.  They played a small concert hall (around 1,000 people).  We sat on the front row.  You could hear Jimmy Vaughn's guitar buzzing.  It was pretty great!

I can't believe I haven't seen ZZTop in concert.

BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ZZTOP... I'LL HAVE TO CHANGE THAT.

The name of the venue is called The Backyard. Its an oudoor ampitheatre, sort of. Last month, I caught "The Last of the Breed" tour there. Willie, Merle, Ray Price and Asleep at the Wheel.

This was the 4th time to see ZZ. My last time before this was in 1985 in the Astrodome with Sanata, Joe Ely and assorted others.

Edit: The latest song they played was "Sharp Dressed Man".

I bet that was a good show.  I'm not a real big Willie fan, but Merle Haggard and Asleep at the Wheel were probably a treat.

That has GOT to be the first time I've seen Judas Priest and REO Speedwagon in the same sentence!   ;D

first time i seen zz top was 1973, they opened for uriah heep, second time humble pie opened for them, third time pat travers opened for them. all great shows.

Yea I did, many an up start band played Gilley's during the 70s & 80s from Country to Southern Rock. Gilley's Club was the sensation of an era: the "world's largest honky-tonk.", until burned to the ground in 1989.

Many say the Kim Wilson and jimmy Vaughn were at the top of the art form during those shows I am glad you got to see that !
