why??

Featured Replies

i have wondered this ever since i joinjed this site

why is there a smallmouth forum but not one for largemouth?

i was just curious

anyone know?

I think it is probably because most of this site is dedicated to the Largemouth and it is more sought after than the Smallmouth. I like to fish for both, but a lot of the time i am fishing for Largemouth because where i am the closest lake has no Smallmouth in it.

It's a Largemouth Bass fishing forum but we have quite a few smallmouth aficionados so we made a section just for them to talk about different tactics, locations, etc. which can be very different from Largemouth.

I will take a big spot over a smallmouth any day...

What about the sea, hybrid striped, hybrid, rock, yellow, redeye, guadalupe and suwannee bass?

What! You crazy mahn?

I catch a lot of spots, but they are no match for a smallmouth.

I agree.  Smallmouth, some only 6 inches, put up a much larger fight than any spot or largemouth!  Especially when you hook quality fish over 3 lbs from streams and rivers, talk about a fight...

Spots are fun, but I'll take an ill-tempered smallie any day.

You sir have never tangled with a large Alabama spotted bass. They are not the spotted bass you are used to catching. Different species.

I will take a Coosa river spot over any fish I have ever caught

I agree with RW...

I have caught plenty of smallmouth and I dont see how a spotted bass can have more action...
