What weights do ya'll use for drop shotting (not size, but brand or style)... im looking into some new ones that are less likely to hang up in brush or rocks. Right now i just use the regular bell shaped casting sinkers.

you don't even tie your line to it. just slip the line through the clasp and it holds tight, but if it gets snagged up the design is so that the clasp cuts the line, and you only end up losing the weight instead of the whole hook, line and sinker (pun intended...)

make sure you check out the 3 different shapes, too. they make round, skinny and magnum shapes.

I couldn't find the dropshot weights that I like anywhere on the east coast and I couldn't get the company that makes them to ship me some from Cali so I started pouring my own last year.

I only use the teardrop shaped sinkers with the Drop shot swivels (clasps). The DS swivels are a must. No matter what you do you will loose some.

I use the teardrop ones because of two advantages. They have a low center of gravity so they stay on the bottom better. Keeping them on the bottom keeps the silt from getting stirred up and prevents the bass from striking the sinker. The other is the narrow top. This makes it easier to get out of stags.

Also if you are fishing in cover like brush try using a circle hook. The circle hook is easier to get unsnagged.

I like the Hersey Kiss with the flat bottom. Fluke calls them teardrop. If they land on there side I can feel them stand up, and then they don't role or drag every easy giving a little more feel.

Is this similiar to the brand "Quick Drops" version?  I just bought some of them and haven't had a chance to try them yet.  They are pretty economically priced as well!

Well, ok, my big "secret" is to use starburst jigs as the weight.  They don't get hung up in rocks much and they catch fish.  You can get them from Don Iovino.  Rig them with your favorite trailer.

Great idea, Glenn.  Unfortunately for us Minnesota Bass fishermen, it is illegal here. :'(
