I'm looking for a site that can clean out my computer quickly. I've used Ad-Aware in the past but its just not getting it done anymore. I think I've got something more than Ad-Aware can get out. Ever since I downloaded Lime Wire my computer has not been the same. Loading very slow, freezing up at times etc....

I thought Ad- Aware would take care of it all ? Guess I was wrong.

Have you tried contacting Ad- Aware to see if they have any info?

I was just using the free Ad-Aware....evidently it can't remove whatever's taken over my computer. I have not contacted them but I probably should.

sounds like spywares to me. This is probably old, but I guess it may help somehow

I've got the full Norton system.  It work pretty good.

Assuming you have a MS based operating system (Windows), I switched to Windows Live Onecare a while back. It does virus and spyware scanning and the definition files are kept up to date. When you first get it, it is like a Romanian Duchess in the attention it wants asking what programs should be allows to do what actions. However, once it is all set, it does well.

I would always stick with the big guys, Mcafee , Norton, and MS. They just have the budget and IT staff to keep the virus and spyware definition files up the date at a level others can't.

For a test, go to Microsoft site, download the OneCare Live trial ( can use it for free for 60 days) and see if it finds anything. If it does, then it will clean it for you. If you want to buy it, then you can do so. Or uninstall it.

Then go install AVG.

Had the same problem and that is what i did.No problems since.

AVG used to be a reliable suggestion.  8.0 has been buggy as hell and unreliable.

McAfee offers a 90-day trial for their AV program.  

I second the AVG, I haven't had any problems with it. Also download Malware Bytes free version. This program is magic. This thing will clean your comuter right up. Then download and install Spybot. Also another piece of advice is to backup your computer and before you run any fixes turn off system restore.

Another thing you might try if your browser has been hijacked is googling the website that comes up. I think it is law now that the company doing the hijacking has to supply the software to remove it.

Try AVAST it's a free virus scanner that auto updates and such, the only thing you'll need to do is register (no real info needed) and they'll send you a key that works for 1 year. After a year you need to renew it for free again.

With this program I go out of my way to find viruses sometimes....I'll get virus emails from my friends and a follow up email from them telling me "oh i just got a virus don't open that last email, it wasn't really me that sent it.."

I click it anyways and watch avast freak out =D
