Something to make people like you seem smarter ;D

In nature, there is always balance.lol

you mean "devolve" ?

you mean "devolve" ?

nope.

Think about it.  Apes don't argue over fishing tackle, shoot each other, or watch Dancing with the Stars.  All they do is eat, sleep, and reproduce. Quite efficient if you ask me. ;)

wow, that only took 5 more years than everywhere else...when will cable internet be available? lol.

Do you live in a very rural area?

Its not that our area is incredibly rural. We are very close to pretty sizable towns. I think the main problem has just been topography. Where I live is situated in between two incredibly deep river canyons (~ 1000ft deep) and it just hasnt been worth their time to run lines to a relatively small population.

There is a town of about 15,000 that is about 1.5 miles away in a straight line, but it takes 7 miles of driving to get to it :o

Satelite internet has just been to expensive for me to justify it, and after the mail in rebate for the hardware, this will be $4 a month CHEAPER than my dial up!

I just read up on exactly how DSL works, since i had no idea.

I guess they mustve finally put in a hub or whatever its called that is within range for us. According to what i read, dsl is only really functional if you are within 18,000 feet of  the station. Interesting.

DSL is SOOOOOOO 1999!!!!!

Let's hope your close to the hub, if not, it could slow down if everybody else is online at the same time.  But... it has to be better than dial up.  Glad to see your finally catching up with technology.

You could have opted for one of air cards from the Cell Phone companies. They work fairly fast (way better than dial up) and you can get unlimited for like $30/month.

oh,..."In"volve,....a southern thing.... :P

Actually that's a cable issue, not DSL.

Sorry, your right.

But even with DSL, the farther away you get from the central office, the weaker the signal becomes.

Yep, ISP's tend to overestimate their capabilites as well.  I bet my company is the only person/company in the world paying big $$ for a 256k DSL connection.
