Featured Replies

I went to academy to get 4 yum swimbaits..$8.00 so I  tried ebay and they were $11.00 there :o, I cant see it taking more plastic than a 10 inch worm to make one..this is crazy..2 bucks each..??thanks!

Could be due to demand.

Swimbaits are fast becoming the "hot" bait of the times if they aren't already.  The prices follow accordingly.

Pouring a plastic swimbait is a bit more labor intensive than a big worm.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's called supply and demand.

Those are cheap swimbaits. Try getting a HUD or Mattlures $20-35 for one swimbait. Take quality over quantity.

Plastic cost is only one variable in the price of swimbaits.  A company has to pay for the price of the mold.  They have to calculate the total output potential of that mold.  It's MUCH faster and easier to pour solid worms than it is to pour hollow belly swimbaits.  Demand is another aspect. Etc, etc.

If you want cheap ones I think the Mann's hardnose paddletail are the cheapest I've seen so far.

Most plastic worms are injected while the paddle tail swimbaits are dipped multiple times.  x2 to the much more labor intensive process.

Mold, 6+ grand a piece.

Injection machine, lots of grands.

cause bait companies RIP YOU OFF!!!!!!!!

I think this is closest... They saw what people were willing to pay for Basstrix after they got hot, and price gouged accordingly.  Before basstrix won tournaments they were less than half of what they charge now.

fortunately the competition is helping out a little bit.  I bought some netbait 4.5" that were like $5.50 for 4 of them- they were really nice caught fish and they were very soft and life like in the water.  Still crazy but better than $10 or $11 for 3!!!!!!  I broke down and bought some glue and I tell you its worth it- you can make those baits go a long way, what I do is fish all day with what I got keep the "wounded" baits in a bag as I fish- nite after I glue them all up and they are good as new by morning (it is a pain trying to fix them as you fish- get enough for the day at least then repair when you are done this works really well)
