Classic/Muscle Cars

Featured Replies

Do any of you guys own a classic car or old school (20's-70's) muscle car or hot rod?

I used to own a "built to the gills" small block 1966 mustang. I sold it in 1999 and I regret more every year. That car was a blast to cruise the Ft Lauderdale strip and Federal Hwy in. It ran low 12's on street tires.

I will get another toy in a few years.

I don't own it, but I have the keys, and full use of my best friends 40th Anniversary Vette. Before that he had a '68 440 GTX.

My dad has a 73 Sting Ray Corvette that sits in the garage.

I love vettes.

Around here, every year in the summer we have a HUGE corvette show. So many vettes that you cant look at them all in one day. Its very fun to go to an check out some cars.

Its always been  hobbie of mine to go with my father and grandfather to  old car shows and im grown to respect older cars.

I dunno if this counts to you, not a car, but i have a 1981 ford f-100 custom that im driving haha.

First vehicle of mine, and me and a friend have been restoring it. Its a bit ugly, but tomarrow we are actully finishing all the body work and in the next week it will have a fresh coat of paint on it. Cant wait to see the final product.

Still have loads of work after that though! But its been fun and great knowledge that i enjoy.

It's fun to restore a vehicle. When I was 17, two of my best friends and I restored a 1957 Chevy. It was beautiful when we were done. The only problem was we had to sell it when we finished it to save our friendship. The next car I re-did was a 1986 Fiero.

It's alot of fun, but very expensive.

This car is identical to the one I used to have.  I regret selling it everytime I see one roll across the auction block and sell for 20 to 30 times what I paid for mine in 1976.   :P

I had a 68 mustang with a 289.  I sold it and bought a 66 Ford F100 with a built 390.  God I loved that truck!  I kept it for 3 years till my wife and I went to buy a house and I sold it for a down payment.  I'll have one again though.

ever tried to convince the wife you need a classic car when you have a bass boat and a 14' V-bottom already?

id have a better chance walking on water.

I'm struggling trying to get another boat in the driveway!  I can't even imagine trying to do that.  We'll send flowers after you ask her.

Hi, I have a 1966 Fairlane 500, 289, also with a 5 speed. The transmission really works well. It has 74,000 miles.

My brother owns 2, a '65 Mustang 289hp hard top.  Navy blue, white leather, VERY clean.

This is his pride though, it has an original 427 side oiler, the real deal.

Motor was willed to him by an old customer of his, body is a 2 piece kit from Modena.

I have a 1974 Nova that has been in my garage for about 20 years.

I paid $1000 for it and since then have put a lot of time and money in it.

I used to drag race with it, but now just drive it on the street every now and then.

LBH, DAAAAYYUUUUMMMM, what a BEAUTIFUL piece of machinery!!! Probably couldn't even afford insurance on it. Sure would like to borrow it for about a week though :o ;D :o...

Yessir! Have you been to it? We've managed to get out there 3 times now. They also have a VW show every year haha...

I grew up in Teutopolis, IL.  I've never been to the actual vette show, but I've seen them all driving around town.  Mid America didn't get big until I was in college.

1967 Chevy Nova. Ran it for years in IHRA and NHRA. IHRA it was set up with a 6 cyl and Doug Nash 5 speed trans(SS/3K). Set six records with it. NHRA I ran a small block with a powerglide in SS/LA, three records.

Has a narrowed 9 in. ford w/5.86 gear under the rear now.

My 1966 Pontiac GTO.

Yanked the original 389 for a refreshed 455, Ram Air III build.

New heads and rear are forthcoming.

A Cobra, hand built and owned by Carrol Shelby himself, went for $5 million on Barrett - Jackson last year. Highest selling car at the auction ever.
