goodbye to Mr. George Kell

Featured Replies

Our beloved George Kell past away Tuesday morning. Played in MLB for around 15 yrs. I think he was an 8 yr. all-star for the Detroit Tigers, and was their tv broadcaster when i was growing up. Even though he lived to 86 y/o , it's still a sad day for me. EVERYONE  in Detroit loved you George...

Heard about his passing on ESPN.

Must have been a very nice guy.

Big loss to Detriot.  :'(

George was the best. I loved listening to him call a game.

He was a real southern gentleman. I talked to him a couple times. I graduated from high school with Frank Beckman, he introduced me to George.

I'm a native Detoiter and I grew up with George Kell, Al Kaline, Ernie Harwell, etc.  Happy to say I made it to the 68' series.

Btw, Bill Davidson, owner of the Pistons, just passed away too.
