Spinner Bait trailer hooks

Featured Replies

Do you rig them point up (same way as main hook) or hook down?  Or do you vary based on condition.

I always rig them point up. When you rig them point down they get caught on more stuff. Also bass's lower jaw is a little tougher to penetrate the the top of its mouth is IMO.

I also rig the trailer hooks pointing up all the time. I have KVD's video, Advanced Spinnerbait Tactics, and he says in the video that when you're fishing open water you can reverse the trailer hook. I usually fish spinnerbaits around laydowns, stumps and thicker grass, hence, the trailer hook pointing up.  :)

I always rig them up.

I riggem' up. To add, It's best to simply put the trailer hook on then just put your keeper on above it, not over the eye as some come pre-rigged. The trailer needs to swing freely to take the leverage point away from the bass.

Point up.  A little trick I do for the keeper is buy some jig skirt bands and slide that over the main hook after you put the trailer on.  It works 10x better that the tubing you get with the hooks

Could you guys post or PM pics of how you have them rigged with the keeper. I just bought some trailer hooks and I'm confused on how to do it.
