A Wake Up Call...

Featured Replies

Well I grew up with this man's son while we were in high school. Its kinda shocking that this is now going on in this sleepy NH town, read the whole story here.

According to Lt. Brian McCarthy, the homeowner listed as Dennis Viger by Vision Appraisal's online assessors database arrived at his 3 Vassar Drive residence around 10:30 a.m. where he discovered a dark colored four-door Saturn parked in his driveway with the trunk open. As the homeowner jotted down the license plate number on the vehicle, the suspect exited his home carrying his computer, McCarthy said.

After setting the computer down in the trunk of his vehicle the intruder pulled a screwdriver from the passenger seat and confronted the homeowner, using the tool as a weapon, according to McCarthy. The homeowner described as a large man by police then wrestled the suspect to the ground, knocking the screwdriver out of his hands.

As the homeowner began to throw punches, the burglar recovered the screwdriver and stabbed him in his upper arm, McCarthy said.

The burglar dropped the screwdriver again and started to flee, but realized that he had dropped his wallet during the fight. As he tried to recover it, the homeowner grabbed the screwdriver and stabbed the intruder between the ribs, according to McCarthy.

The exhausted homeowner then grabbed the wallet and threw it to the ground, emptying its contents on the driveway. The burglar was able to pick up the wallet and some of his cash before fleeing in his vehicle, leaving some of the wallet's contents behind, police said.

I've always thought that if in a similar situation I'd throw their wallet or keys or whatever on the roof

precisely the reason I carry.  It's everywhere, not just in bad parts of town.

Especially in a state like NH, where it's so easy to get a permit.

I grew up about an hour North of Pelham, and most of my family still lives in the area. If it wasn't for that nasty white stuff that falls from the sky for half of the year, I'd probably move back. GA winters are just so much nicer.  ;)

I am never without mine, wife either. I have never had to pull it and neither has the wife. If I ever do though I dang sure will pull the trigger. Even more positive the wife will do the same. Heck, shes better shot with hers than I am.

Most women usually are better pistol shots since the key to pistol shooting is pointing your index finger and we all know who gets the most practice doing that.
