Vince Young...

Featured Replies

I dont care what you think of his demeanor or what he does on the field. I just have to say you got to give him props for what he has done in light of the tragic Steve Mc Nair death. Read more about it here.

Vince Young wasn't stepping up in the pocket, he was stepping up in life.

The Tennessee Titans quarterback surprised the sons of his desceased friend by taking Steve McNair's sons to their school's "Dear Dads Breakfast" on Wednesday in Nashville.

Young looked up to McNair as a kid, and he didn't have to think twice about doing this for Trenton and Tyler.

"Those are my boys,'' Young told The Tennessean. "I wouldn't say it was to pay anyone back; it was just out of love. Steve would do it for me. He pretty much did it for me when I was growing up.

Maybe things like this will help Young get his head on straight.

The Titans haven't given up on him.  It's all about mental stability,

not talent.

This is great to see, for all the other nuckleheads in all sports to take notice and grow up.

Well done!

Stand up guy and talented QB. I hope he works things out.

It seems to me that him doing things like this indicates a "straight head"

Young is on the bench because he has had trouble dealing with the

pressures of leadership. Being THE quarterback is a lot more

than physical ability and talent.

That's what I meant "getting his head on straight".

Vince Young is not on the bench because he can't deal with leadership. It all stems from him arriving in the NFL and finally being coached as a quarterback. He's always been an athlete at the qb position. He has great leadership and play making ability when they allow him to be free and move out of the pocket and run. Unfortunately, the Titans drafted someone who has never in his life been a pocket passer and try to turn him into one. It's like he's back at the junior high level trying to learn to play the quarterback position correctly while doing it in the NFL.

Anyway, I'm real glad to see what he did for Mcnair's kids. His heart is definitely in the right place.

That was a great gesture on his part.

Used to be, it wasn't about looking good in the pocket or passer ratings.   Its been said that if passer ratings was kept 30 years prior, that most QB's would grade out as average on style points.

THis is whats funny about Vince and the Titans.   Vince gets drafted by a 4-12 team.    Kerry Collins lost all his starts.   Vince comes in and wins and the defense gets the credit because vince isn't a pocket passer.   Well, where was the defense the year before for McNair? 4 wins?

What counts is wins.   When has Tenn put a receiving core on the field for any of their QB's since McNair.

Enter the same scenerio the year Vince was drafted.   Collins hasn't won a game  this season either.

Whats gonna be the excuse this time when the Titans start wining?   The defense?????

Getting first downs and scoring is the name of the game, and Vince has done that well his whole life.

Won't be long till Vince starts again, and when they start winning, I'm sure someone will say the RB's or  Defense deserves the credit.

Its what they did and said the first time.

Has anything else been said about...well....his sanity?

  • Super User

His sanity.    The guy has never lost at anything cause of his competitive nature.    He gets boo'd by fans for the first time in his life and he's not sure of how to handle it?

He done nothing but win his whole life with a completion pct from HS that was over 60% thru college.    His passing stats had him pretty even with Matt's at USC.

Again, other than bo Scaffe, he's had not one valid target.   Why not use his strengths instead of making him what he isn't.

Sanity will be the last thing on anyones mind when they start winnning again.

I just remember reading about him "going off the deep end" and thought about if it could happen again.

What a cool move on his part. Now, send him home to Houston so he can play for the Texans.

Class move....

I dont think so. You could tell this past week when he was warming up to go in. His eyes and his demeanor were ready for whatever reaction he ws going to get. He needs to get back to how he was in highschool, with the confidence he had as a rookie. Anyone remember that?

Vince will be back soon.

Well, Vince and the Titans have won 3 in a row!!!!!

   Vince is 3-0

I've been with you Matt. If they would let him play like he plays the Titans will win. He and Chris Johnson are what's winning games for the Titans.

With the loss of Steve McNair prior to football season, the Titans shouldn't of needed any motivation to play this season.

Titans and Texans in Houston this week.    Homecoming for Vince!
