Swim Senko techniques/retrieval

Featured Replies

I just picked up a pack of 5" watermelon with black and red flake swim senkos. I tried putting one on yesterday after they stopped biting on my powerworms. I T-rigged it with a 1/8 oz tungsten bullet and reeled it just like I would a powerworm. It looked pretty good swimming in the water, but I would like to know if you guys have any other techniques for this bait..Thanks!!

I use them with various sized bullet weights and fish them like a texas rig with a lot of success.  Just hop them along the bottem around cover or structure.

Steady retrieves around grasslines have also done pretty good for me.

Thanks man. I am a big fan of the steady retrieve, especially because there is TONS of vegetation here so I try to stay up off the bottom a little bit. I'm gonna throw the swimsenko fist next time I go out and we'll see what we get!!

i have awesome success fishing them like i would a swimming jig

I fish them weightless on a texposed 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook.   Weightless they will stay just below the surface.

i fish a swim senko exactly like i fish a senko if i'm throwing real shallow,  but i also like a reel-reel-pause retreive if there's more vegetation in slightly deeper water.

i also have had a lot of success burning swim senko's topwater. the tail kicks off a good wake and gurgle, much like a buzzbait. i've actually caught more fish on this technique this year than any other.

I throw it out let it sink for a few seconds, give it a couple of quick jerks, reel in the slack and then repeat the process.

My best technique is to drive them.

I hop in the car and promptly return them to the store purchased and get my money back.
