The oldest has been engaged and decided to get married in July. The middle one has been engaged and has now picked a year from May.

  The 3rd oldest is getting engaged this weekend. My guess is next year or the year after for a wedding.

   Ouch I need a break!

My company owns a wedding center, and the trend in my area in the last 3 or so years is more and more brides and grooms are paying for most of the wedding themselves.  Between the old school parents, who had their whole wedding for 5,000, many of them can't believe that a nice wedding these days can cost anywhere from 30-75,000 and up. 

My first thought was to suggest you borrow the Nitro boat and eject the soon to be son in laws one at a time, but in the end, you'd be stuck with 4 grown ladies, and that shopping x's 4, that would come out in the long run more expensive than 3 weddings. ;D

In new jersey and new york, the weddings are intense.  There's many places that are $2-$300 per person and up.  A "cheap" place that's still nice will usually run at least $150 per person or so.  And that's just for the hall.  Majority of the good photographers are anywhere from 4-7 thousand for a decent package, video is anywhere from 1-3k depending on package, and dj is anywhere from 1-5k.  So just those few things can really add up.

The funny thing is, (well, not funny) so many people have this big fancy wedding they can't afford, just to try to impress their guests.  Seems stupid to me.

Our wedding cost $8k in 2002. We paid for the entire thing. Got married at a beautiful country club right on Narraganset Bay.

It's a little different here than anywhere else in the country for the most part.  Once you get out of this area, it's all significantly cheaper.

My wife and I paid for most of our wedding.  I didn't think it was fair for either of our parents to foot the bill.  Also, when you pay for your own wedding, you get to control the planning (particularly, who is invited).  That was the best part.  No Aunt Clara, who I haven't seen since I was 2 years old or gaudy decorations.  It is the only way to go.

My wife and I paid for our own.

Cost $50 at the courthouse.

The honeymoon was about $5K.

that was my number one choice. my second choice was a small wedding in vegas. I didn't get either of my choices.

  Everybody has an opinion but man some of those numbers were staggering. 75K? that's crazy unless you have the extra money to do it. Those who borrow to the max to do it well.... that's another story .

In our day it was a decent looking wedding but everyone pitched in and the reception was sort of a pot-luck type of afair.

Sounds like you have three princesses who all need daddies attention. ;D

In your case it might be smart to do what my parents are doing. They said their giving us each X amount of dollars for our weddings and anything else is on us. Of course being a guy I'm hoping that i can find a girl who's parents can afford a 75k wedding........It's not looking hopeful 

I have 2 daughters and when it comes that time, I just hope my mother is still around with her business.  She runs a bridal and pageant business selling/making gowns, and other needs for weddings, so luckily I should be able to pull things off at a good cost. It sure helped with my wedding.

A wedding shouldn't cost much more than the price of a good ladder.
