Ragetail frog's

Featured Replies

I've Fished the ragetail frog's once and only caught one but have had alot of hits, but when I reel it it flips over on it's belly and it really make's me mad >:). I just wanted to know how to stop it from happening again?

I use the Rage Tail frogs with a keel weighted hook.  That seems to really help with that.  I use the hook so I can kill it in pockets and get it to sink a bit faster.  Thats where I get a lot of my strikes from.

If the bait isn't spinning on the retrieve why does it matter if it's on its belly or back?  Fish aren't going to be able to tell the difference.

Having the hook pointed down can increase snags (depending on rigging) and decrease good hooksets.

Follow Big-O's advice and his link and check out the rigging.  That should help out tons.  Or try keel weighted hooks.  Those will pull it upright more times than not.  I've had problems with most toad-style baits running upside down from time to time and specialized hooks or keel weighted swimbait hooks seem to do the trick for me when I can actually bring myself to put down the rage tail shad.

any of you rage tail frog enthusiasts who have piles of zoom toads you are never going to use, and want a penny's on the dollar offer hit me up.  i far prefer the horny toad to the rage tail... help me help you!

:)  :)  :)

Hawg Hunter8, you mentioned when you reel it it flips over on it's belly....

If the Rage Toad lands on it's back on cast, it is designed to flip over onto its belly on beginning retrieve or pause. My website gives details on toad product page that I hope might be of help. Also Brian's advice on keel weight hook is good on almost all soft top water designs, helps you to throw it a mile as well.

I don't know about all this frog talk but I had a ball with a Rage Tail Shad fishing grass on Barkley last Sunday. Fish in the grass liked it real well!!  :)

This oughta be good.  I don't know who to pick.  Rage Tail is no push-over.  But the I'm sure the Horny Toad won't just "roll over" on this one, either. :-X
