10" Ribbon tail

Featured Replies

Does anyone make an inexpensive 10 ribbon tail worm.  I check *** and didnt see 10"ers there.  I have been catching the bejesus out of fish in merky water with em but I hate paying berkeley and all the other so much money. and I would much rather support a smaller bait company when possible.  I have been buying the one the wave worms make and they have been super productive!!  They are a little skinnyer than the powerbaits.  Please let me know!!! :-/

Zoom Ol' Monsters.  They flat catch fish.  Especially in Watermelon/red flake!  ;)

Buy zoom i'd love to see *** come with some really fat 10" power worm copies.

There's only one for me. CULPRIT.

Ronnie

I have had good luck on the Zoom Ol' Monsters in the past.  Zoom makes another large worm but I can't think of the name MAg-11 maybe that I have used in the past.

gambler ten inch worms are cheap like 3 bucks for ten and they are slimmer than a power worm if thats what your looking for ;)

I picked up some Mann's Hardnose 9" worms at Tackle Warehouse on sale last week.  I like the hard head on these baits; they really keep them from sliding down the hook.  Haven't had much chance to use them yet, though so I don't know how well they catch fish.  I have had good luck in the past with green pumpkin Zoom Ol' Monsters, though, and they're around $3 a pack too.

Like others have said - - Zoom and Culprit both make great 10" worms.

As far as one being better than the other - I sure can't tell.  I like them both.

I normally use a 4/0 EWG.  However, I will also go bigger to a 5/0.  I also will employ a trick showed to me by a buddy.  I was getting short strikes, could not hook up one day.  He showed me how to rig a trailer hook so you had two hooks rigged weedless on a 10 in. worm.  No more short strikes!

On Wheeler lake KVD placed 2nd and on Kentucky lake he won and he was using his series 5 sexy Shad crankbait and a 10" Rage Tail ANACONDA worm along with Jig and Rage Craw etc. The Anaconda is big and action packed. Same worm that Shaw Grigsby and I did the show on a few mths ago but hasn't aired yet due to launch of worm in the market is next week. Gonna try to get some film clips of Anaconda as well as other new designs posted here on Forum real soon. Maybe next day or two. Will also be on my website.

I use a 5/0 to 6/0 long shank heavy wire Eagle Claw hook

I am drooling at the prospect of a 10 in. Ragetail worm.....

Fish beware, you dont have a chance!!!

If you want cheaper look at the 11" sneaky snakes by luckestrike. Usually about $2 a bag.

I got no problem paying the price for 10" Powerworms..They're excellent. $3.49 a pack btw.

Do not mean to hijack the thread, but why do 10 in. worms have to have a ribbon tail?????  Why not look like a trick worm type?????

Me thinks this would be an awesome plastic worm.....

I would have any problems witha  10" trick worm.  I just have been catching fish on the 10" ribbon tail and why fix it i it aint broke!!!!

I use a 5/0 offset hook.  I am not a big fan of EWG's for 10" worms for some reason that I can't really put a finger on.  Just have had better luck with the offset hooks.

I think most big worms have the ribbon tail because it creates more displacement and action.  With these big worms, you're trying to trigger a vicious killing strike.  All that movement helps provoke the bass into thinking that it has to hit hard.  I've never had a subtle strike on a carolina rigged 10" worm.

they make 10inch trick worm imitators :-X

I throw a 10.5" trick worm on a crig all the time on Amistad and Falcon made by xcite baits (xcitebaits.com). Works great and you can keep cutting the top off when it gets tore up and keep fishing it (just a little shorter each time!).

I just picked up a pack of the Yum Big Show worms, I'm pretty pumped about them.  Anyone else tried them yet?

For the money, Zoom MAG II   9.5"  curly tail worm, 20 pack for 3 something I believe.  The ole monsters are a 10" worm, little thicker, but come 10 to a pack and cost more.
