My new fishing log

Featured Replies

You guys think of anything else to add maybe? I'd be willing to contribute it here as a new log.

Do you fill that out while doing your TPS Reports?

yeah its definitely a revision of the one here.we added hyacinth and cleaned it up some

That's way more involved than mine but I definitely think keeping a log of some kind with the info that's most important to you is a big help.

Very nice log. I keep detailed information like that for all the muskie I catch, but really have a hard time doing that with bass. If you are able to keep up with it, that is great. I tried, but there would be those rare days I would catch 50+ bass and when I kept length and weight measurements on every fish, I felt like I spent half the time writing. I also felt like keeping records like that took away from just getting out and catching fish. I do keep records of the number of fish (and species) I catch on every outing with the measurement of the largest fish per species for that day and that seems to satisfy me. Again, great looking log and if you do keep up with it, you will have a very valuable historical data base.

If you use electronics or care to incorporate them with your log, Way Point # or gps position might come in handy.

The one that is posted on this site is the same log my buddy and I created in 1989. We used it to create thick notebooks of trip reports - and we learned a lot from them.

Shortly after launching this site, I thought maybe a few folks might enjoy using it too. So I created the file and made it available for download.

Since then, dozens of modified versions have popped up all over the Internet.  Never in my dreams did I think it would become so popular!  It's pretty cool to see somebody tweak it to fit their own style.

You just made my day.

you may wanna add rod/reel used for each fish.

not for the faint-hearted tho...at the end of a year's time, most folks are usually surprised at how little is needed to catch most of their fish.

X2 -  after 3 years of documentation, I realized that 5 percent of my baits caught 95 percent of my fish - the bait monkey was not happy.

;)
