Please move this post if its in the wrong category, I wasn't sure if it belonged here or in other fish species. I was wondering though if senkos would work for trout, particularly rainbows. I cut open a trout I caught recently using powerbait and found a 4inch senko in its stomach. So I thought maybe they would actually hit the senko. I bought a pack of 3inch cinnamon brown senkos and I plan to mold em in powerbait dough (so they have a scent ideal for trout) Has anyone had any experience using senkos for trout?

i havent used them for trout     trolling cranks is just easier to catch rainbows

I have never used a Senko for trout but, a few years ago in the early spring I was fishing a creek mouth that emptys into the Potomac River and caught a 22" rainbow on a 5" Senko. I guess you could try them. Mayabe try to use a 3" one. I have also caught Walleye in the Upper Potomac on Senkos. I hate to say it but they darn near catch about anything. I hate to use them but, if it works, it works. Good luck.

They work for saltwater speckle trout and redfish down here in Florida so maybe you should give them a try.

Just so long as your not fishing waters for flyfishing only and watch

for delay harvest waters where you have to release them...

You might catch a few, but there are MUCH better alternatives. Here are a couple of suggestions:

Original Floating Rapala & Countdown

Jerkbaits, especially Lucky Craft Pointer 78 & Rapala X-Rap

Panther Martin (gold spinner, black body with chartreuse spots)

My experiance is based on Stocked Trout and will be vastly different when fishing for the smarter type...

I use 2in Senko's (Also knockoffs) on Rainbows up to around 16in. Works well wacky rigged. Just cast where they are and let it sink.  Works well when they just don't hit any spoons, spinners, or jerkbaits.

Again, the stocker trout are pretty dumb.....
