just wondering

people probably caught fish in it, while it was rigged on a jig head... but they were actually enticing the strike by just dragging and wiggleing the worm like a T-rig

True, but you also have to understand that the action on these things is just spectacular no matter which way you fish it.The fish don't see em much either.

I normally fish the 6.5 inch weightless, but this time of year fished deep on a 1/4 oz texas rig is the way to go.

The smallest 4 inch is killer on a dropshot or a shakey head and I don't have a problem with it knocking over a spot remover head.

It might depend on how you define a worm, but the Kut-Tail is my #1 worm.

I fish it weightless, split shot, bullet jig head and Shak-E2 jig head. There is

no better "worm".

8-)

I slayed the big spotted bass in Claytor lake this past summer with the kut tail on a dropshot rig. Now I've adapted it to the tidal rivers around here and have been very successful with it on the largemouth and smallmouth throwing the kut weightless and on the dropshot

if the kut tail doesent float,

It doesn 't need to float.

why is it so popular on the shakey head?

In practical terms almost any soft plastic bait can be shakey head rigged however straight tail worms are to me the most productive, there 's something to them ( the kind of action the worm has when twitched, jerked or shaked ) that attracts the fish and makes them very effective.

the bulkiness of it just makes the jig fall over

The jighead doesn 't need to stand up.

thanks for the info guys.  one last question, do you rig tail up or tail down? i have had luck with the tail up but i see alot with the tail down.

as far as claytor lake, i have had fun with these there as well.  what size hook do you use on the drop shot rig?  you use the 4" or 5" on the drop shot.

thanks again

oh and i have been using the 5.75 size on the shakey head. maybe the 4 inch will stand up a little better

ALL sizes work on a shakey head. The big kahuna 6.5 on a 1/4 spot remover is pretty gnarly.Match your bait size to the mood of the fish and or water clarity. The 4 inch is a dynamo but also a dink magnet.I think overall the best size for shakey is the 5 inch.

Hook sizes for a dropshot can vary according to your preference or how you have it rigged.(texas, wacky,or nose hooked)

If you want suggestions I will list some next time I read this.

Tail up,down, left, right, diagonal doesnt seem to matter. These baits swim with the profile of a long minnow and it always looks good, I catch bass either way.Normally I DO rig it tail down, just out of habit I guess, but will turn it as necessary when it gets torn up.
