Before this last year I would have said either the original floater or the Shad-Rap. Now I have to add the X-Rap to the mix. I can't really pick one over the other, but those the top three for me. Just started, at the end of last year, with the DT series. I haven't used them enough to say for sure, but it looks like they will be among my favorites.

Gotta agree with texasbass1, the Risto was a great bait. I have a handful left. Wish they'd bring that one out of retirement.

Cheers,

GK

This is a great thread.

I have caught the most fish on the original floater black and silver but that is because I grew up fishing ponds and streams. However the last few years the x-rap and DT series has produced some big bass and some large amounts as well. I am a jerk bait addict I would throw a jerkbait all day every day if I could so I would have to go with the X-rap right now. I wish they made a floater that was a little heavier. The original is light and can be a pain to cast if it is windy.

I've caught more bass on the old balsa Fat Rap (FR-7, shad color) than any other crank.  Problem is, they don't make them any more and the only one I have left is one that my dad gave to me a long time ago.  I don't want to lose it, so I don't use it any more......it has a ton of bite marks on it!

I like the original floaters in Black/Silver or Blue/Silver.  For subsurface I like the DT minnows, they allow you to select a fishing depth.  ;)

There are just so many good Rapala baits.I love the Shad Rap,the DT series, the X-Rap.I would have to say that I've caught more bass on a Rapala Original floating minnow in silver w/ black back than any other hard bait that I've ever used.
