Success with the Megabass Vision 110!

Featured Replies

After hearing so much about this lure I paid the $25 and ordered one in Natural color. I went down to my favorite pond and promptly threw it over a branch on my third cast. At that point I knew what was coming and I felt sick at the thought of losing it so quickly. So I did my best to get it swinging and pop it over the branch and so of course it got very very stuck. I was pretty heated so I reefed on it figuring I had nothing to lose... well it did come unstuck and came flying at me at the speed of light. I had just enough time to turn my head and WHACK! it hit the side of my head... it didn't really hurt, just felt like a smack but it wasn't falling... I felt up and removed a point from the middle hook from my ear and then felt up in my hair and found the bottom hook. Two points were buried to the curve in my head. Those katsuage hooks were so sharp that it didn't really even hurt, but I tugged on it and there was no way it was coming out. Luckily another guy happened to be fishing with his kids and I wandered over and waved him over.

"Uh, could you help me? I seem to have gotten this lure stuck" I said while handing him my needle-nose.  You should have seen his face, but like a trooper he ripped out the hooks...one by one.

Well anyways the day wasn't a total loss, after that I'd be damned if I didn't catch something on that lure so I went back and cast it a few more times and SUCCESS!!!!

LOL! ;D Not really the right time of the year to be throwing that bait. The vision 110 works great in spring (pre-spwan) and late fall. Don't give up on it!

see you hooked something with your 25 buck lure.. hopefully it will be a fish next time ;D.... oh yah i did the same thing but instead i only spent 5 bucks  ;)

nice story

keep em coming  ;D

oh man, two to the dome sounds painful! just thinking about the one i got in my finger makes me cringe, i can't imagine two in my head. ;)

Sounds like it could have easily been me  ;D

dude i saw the photos of your finger and even though i had basically the same thing except with two, i still think yours is much worse. the finger's are one of the most sensitive places on the body and i don't think there are a ton of nerve endings in that part of the head. i had my skull to stop it from going too deep  ;)... Not to say that it didn't hurt getting ripped out with needle-nose pliers...  Also those katsuage hooks have the barb on the outside...haha it sucked but i think i'd much rather have it there than my finger...

*raises glass*  here's to no more sticking anything but fish lips!

Oh man hahaha I had the same thing happened to me over the weekend ;D I pulled the lure from the tree branch and it came flying at my face, I turned my head on the side and one of the hook went into the side of my head ;) Took about 5 min. to get it unstuck... Anyways nice story :(

HERE HERE! haha

I can still feel the spot where the hook was ripping apart nerves inside my finger, every once in a while I'll hit it on something and it'll send a jolt through my fingertip.

Shorefisher, did it bleed a lot after the hooks came out? Mine leaked a little while the hook was in, soon as they yanked it out it started gushing all over the ER bed. Ugh, just thinking about how much it hurt is making my finger throb! ;D

It's interesting you asked that, it was weird but when i was feeling the hook, and found 2 points of the treble buried to the knuckle, i expected a lot of blood. most head wounds tend to bleed a lot. but i would keep on feeling where the hooks entered and my fingers kept on coming back dry. I did the same thing after he tore the hook out but i only found a little drop. it must have bled i would have thought but i never really found any. go figure :-?

agh ripping apart nerves? that's what i've been afraid of. 2 weeks ago i caught my pb smallie (3.5) dogwalkin' a super spook and he had all three trebles in him just like that perch. i was looking at the fish for a bit trying to figure out how i was going to prevent myself from getting stuck and eventually he shook himself free which was a relief.

to prevent that in the future, i'm gonna buy this with my next paycheck:

the lip26s (not the econo) the guys over at TackleTour rated it very highly http://www.tackletour.com/reviewlippertoolslipper.html, said it was better than a boga in many ways.  :-? Anyways it's $40 cheaper and for now comes with a free leather holster.

I've got the berkley lip grip scale and I love it, and it's only $50 from most major retailers. It's the same as the one you posted but even less expensive (maybe because it doesn't come with that nifty leather sheath ;) )

Yeah, having the barb ripping apart nerves was not fun, and was the only reason I couldn't bring myself to pull it out on my own. Any little movement would send shocks up my arm, it was NOT fun, haha. Lesson learned, though!
