Some nice Brookies

Featured Replies

We caught these on "lil joe's" in late fall on the pure, spring fed Swift River. The big one on the far right was about 18" caught by me. The big one on the bottom was caught by my alcoholic buddy on a beaded nymph. The third one on the left was caught by my girlfriend and the other 3 were caught by the kids. Go figure. The smallest one which just made 12" was caught by my 3 year old daughter. These beauties came back to camp with us and prepared with:

Garlic Salt, pepper, and camp made butter.

Wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked/smoked on open fire.

Served with:

-summer squash slices cooked in foil with butter and pepper

-red potato slices cooked in foil with butter and salt

-zuccini slices cooked in foil with butter, pepper, and salt

I always cook in foil on open fire. It keeps the moisture in. ;)

No it doesn't but I was hoping he read this post too and maybe got the point that he needs to chill out. My own little jab at him.  8-)

not to debate but alcoholism is a disease. It isnt something someone generally chooses and isnt really fair to him to have his business posted on the internet. Especially on a forum he is on. Can you imagine if your parents came on the board and started telling embarrassing childhood stories about you?

You don't know him or me so stay out of it. I posted a d**n pic of some nice trout we caught and all you pick out of it was the one word I used to describe my friend. Get a life guy.

First off i apologize if i offended you in ANY way. My goal was not to anger you but to educate you on the addiction. My apologies for your ill feelings toward your friend

I dont think its an addiction for him. He just does it. Fishing is his addiction and I apologize for snapping back. We all just need a lake to ice out I guess. Angler's PMS. ;D

Nice fish!  Nice goin', though!  Now I'm starving! ;)

I've always wanted to catch a brook trout.  Are they tough to catch?  We don't have any brookies within, I'm guessing, 800 miles from here (Illinois).  Phooey!

The White River below Bull Shoals in north central Arkansas holds four species: rainbow, brook, cutthroat and German brown. I fish with Tim "Hot Dawg" Curtis, full-time guide. Fishing with Dawg, you can expect to catch 20-30 trout per day. Last June I took a friend who caught 54 the first day!

If it's a trophy you're after, this section of the White River has the potential to produce the next World Record German brown and rainbow trout. Size and numbers, what else can we ask for?

I need to go there! Tho the swift river has some monster brookies, I want to try something new.

I'll do my best to post any and all catches this season and any recipes I gather.

Thanks fellas. Hang in there. We'll all be fishing soon. I went out and bought a couple of fishing games for PS2 to hold me over for now. I also set up a target zone with red spray paint in the snow outback and from my deck I practice hard. I also read a bunch from this website and learned a few things about bass anatomy that I didn't know before. Figure I should land more than usual this season. We'll see. I need to find info on trout anatomy. Hehe.
