panther martins

Featured Replies

im going fishing for trout this weekend at Spring Creek in Pa and other streams in that area. what size and color panther martins do you guys like.

That is interesting, I also fish Spring Creek. I was there earlier in the week, and am going out today. Penn State student? What section of Spring Creek are you fishing?

I fish both the 1/8 oz and 1/4 oz depending on current and wind.

I recommend the gold spinner/ black body with chartreuse spots.

I fished Penns Creek this past weekend and the 1/8 oz silver bladed orange/red tipped was killer!! Also yellow worked well to.

Quick question about Panther Martins...

When I use inline spinners I use Blue Fox almost exclusively - I like how they spin continuously and immediately when you retrieve, and how you get zero line twist.

Is it the same with Panther Martins? No line twist?

Thanks...

P.S. If you haven't used inline spinners for bass/pickerel/perch/crappie/bluegill, I highly recommend it. I've been messing around with them a lot lately from shore, and they're a blast. You'd be surprised at the size of the fish that will hit them too  8-)

I don't use a swivel and I don't experience line twist except when I get fouled-up with salad. For a relatively inexpensive lure, the blade is surprisingly well machined and does not catch.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll definitely try a few out.

The other day I was using inline spinners with 5 lb test braid, no leader. The line hooked under the blade so that each twist of the lure was a twist in my line...two casts later, the line was dead  :-/ Lesson learned
