Identify Panfish

Featured Replies

I went down to a local stream to see if I could catch some fish out of it.  I never see anyone fish it, but I went and tried anyway.  I caught 5 fish in total, two were regular bluegill, but I am not sure about the other three.  I believe they are red breast sunfish, and a pumpkinseed?

I believe these are the red breast sunfish

Yeah I got them out of macintosh run.

Yup, redbreasts. You can tell by the extended tab on the gill plate. Green sunfish look similar but don't have that extended tab.

They are some of the most beautiful fish you can catch.

Cool pics I've been fishing long time and not seen any around here that vibrant!

Yeah this was the first time I fished this run, and I was surprised when I caught these.  Awesome looking fish.
