  1. there are only so many patterns out there, because, after all a swimbait is supposed to look like a real fish. So, theoretically almost all swimbaits should look alike.
  2. Is anyone going to be coming here (Shreveport, LA) to attend the Classic? I am definitely going to check it out since it is in my hometown. The thing I am really looking forward to is the Expo......or should I say my bait monkey is looking forward to it.
  3. :-? What do you mean ? what he means is that he thinks the record is a fake. Especially since it was back during times that the regulations surrounding catches weren't as strict. Also, even the scales used to weigh it might not have been accurate back then. And the fact that Georgia probably doesn't have anything close to that size swimming around. I have started to think it's bogus too. But, regardless, California has given up ones just ounces shy so the record would still be up there out of reach of most of us.
  4. I was excited to see the TT in BassPro the other day, and I picked it up and started walking around with it because I was planning on buying it. But I ended up going and putting it back. It's just too small. It looks fantastic, but this thing is tiny, I wasn't expecting that.
  5. I would be willing to bet that a good 75% of people say Mattlures Hard gill
  6. I've decided to keep it a lot more simple. I've got a jon boat that im fixing up to use, and I plan on carrying no more than 3 combos. I'm going to stick with jigs, big worms, and small swimbaits. I saw somewhere that LBH said he was trying to cut back on his tackle, and I think it's a nice idea
  7. Do I need to jump in and defend my state?
  8. haven't used it, but like everyone else I am going to reccommend the Cavitron. However, the one buzzbait that is my absolute favorite is the Reaction Innovation's Squeeky Dolphin. it's pretty expensive, but it's not like you lose them a lot
  9. be honest, you're Snapper G, right?
  10. http://www.bigmouthlures.com/
  11. ^^^^ yeah, ive done that. you ever set the hook like a beast and ripped a dink straight out of the water?
  12. I dont know about you guys, but I think lots of people are going to start custom painting these baits. Spro will be painted like bluegills, TT will get flashy paintjobs, IMO
  13. pretty much what everyone else said. using a consistent weight helps, because you get to know exactly what that 1/4oz jig feels like. once, i went to pop my rod and it felt like i didnt even have a lure on there, so i set the hook and sure enough he had picked it up and moved towards me
  14. the idea of swimbaits is that big fish don't waste their time chasing after minnows, but rather eat the biggest thing they can get their mouth around. big baits, big fish
  15. Louisiana's record is a little less than 16, but I feel like there is a nice chance of catching an 8-10, so that's what I'm going for. Although i've caught some 5's and they are really nice. I just found out about a little neighborhood lake i've fished my whole life that gave up a 9.8. I'll be out there ASAP.
