Gator gar fishing is fun, if you can get bit. Ive caught a few of them on large dead baits. Use something like 1/2 of a 12" gizzard shad or some other large cut bait. You can fish on the bottom or use a slip float. You will also need a wire leader, they have nasty teeth and heavy bite pressure.

I've never been gar fishing but I do love to see all the pictures! They are so interesting to me. How do they taste?

Dang, that is one heck of a gar.  I haven't been able to get one on rod and reel, but slay them while bow fishing, still put up a great fight.
