That is a slob for sure.

Let that be a lesson to the cable and broomstick crowd. It CAN be done. I love it when huge fish are taken on light gear. :D

check out this striper fishing story, that most fisherman would like to have.

lol read all the jealous comments below the news story, they're saying it's illegal or fake or something. One of the commenters claimed you can't land a striper that size on 12 lb test. Just give the guy credit where credit is due.

This reminds me of the former world record blue catfish, something in the 110-lb class, that was caught on like a 2" minnow on 17-lb line by a crappie angler. Like bilgerat said, huge fish can be taken on light gear. :)

People love to rain on someone else's parade, happens here all the time.  Big fish on light tackle happens all the time.

Wow! That fish is bigger than Russ.  ;D

What is even funnier about people like that is the fact they say:

"I know he couldn't do it because I failed to do it."

Like the guy who said my biggest was 38 and Ive hooked bigger on 12# but without a chance.

Its not that hard to get big fish on light tackle, all you have to do is have your equipment in good order, have some patience, set the drag, and a little bit of luck with the fish staying out of snags.
