how do you guys fish football jigs?  i ordered some 3/4 ounce strike kings and hear you drag them along the bottom and do not hop them.

I like football head jigs over most jigs just because of personal preference but i drag them, i hop them, i twitch, shake them, pitch, and swim them i do about everything i can with them and they produce for me try out different things and you will see results  

you have to try different things. i will drag drag then hop or have many fast hops then stop and drag it on the bottom. you just have to mess around with the presentation until you find one that the fish in your area like. i have caught some nice fish even swimming a football head jig. jigs are great big bass lures, and once you learn how to work them and catch some fish on them......you will be addicted and throw them over 50 % of the time. good luck and i hope this helped!

i use flippin jigs at least 50 percent of the time.  maybe i'll start to like football jigs too since i sometimes fish a deep rocky clear lake.  in maryland ;D

I do one of 3 things with a football jig.  Drag them, barely hop them, or stroke them.  I use them as a casting bait to structure only.  If there is any kind of cover or vegitation, I consider other options.

the lake i'm talking about sounds perfect for football jigs its clear deep rocky and has no vegetation at all.  and i'll be using some of my new ragetail chunks.

Just fish them how you feel comfortable and see what the fish are biting. You can fish them the same, they just work exceptionally around rocks.

Where does such a place exist in merryland? Every lake I am fishing is filled with grass?
