Understanding that Walleye will bite some crank baits and slow spinner-crawling rigs (for lack of better word), are there any bass-specific lures that Walleye go nuts for?  Carolina rigged soft plastics for example?  I was also wondering about a shakey head worm presentation.  I would think they would be attracted to that, but I just don't know.

Any of you guys that fish walleye ever have any luck with your Bass tackle?

The biggest walleye I ever caught was on a Norman fatboy.

Walleyes will bite on a number of bass type baits.

My favorite crankbaits for walleye include all of the stickbaits like Rapalas, Bomber Long A's, Rattlin' Rouges, and such.  In diving crankbaits, Hot-n-Tots, Wiggle Warts, Rapala ShadRaps, are some of my top producers.

Ball or Darter head jigs with 3" - 5" grubs work well.  In-Line spinners and some spoons work too.

As for "slow spinner-crawling rigs", better known as either crawler harnesses or simply meat rigs are meant for life night crawlers.  It's probably the number one way for trolling even though it is slower than dragging crankbaits.  There are times when you can use a plastic worm on these rigs like a Berkley Power Crawler in place of live bait.

I catch more walleyes each year in the spring on jerkbaits fishing for bass than I do on livebait rigs actually fishing for walleyes. I have caught a couple on shakey heads with trick worms on them but not enough to say it's a good way to catch them. Bandit crankbaits in the 200 series size have produced a lot of walleyes for me while bass fishing. Swimming a grub has caught quite a few too. My dad and I killed the walleye and smallmouth this spring swimming a 3" Gulp minnow on an 1/8 jighead. I've caught a bunch of walleye in the fall ripping rat-l-trap type baits through weeds too. Walleye are a much more aggressive fish than a lot of people think they are.

Grubs also great.

My walleye fishing has been in non-typical walleye waters, i.e., the Erie Canal. They readily took a wide variety of crankbaits, which I fished 90% of the time, and also took grubs on jigheads.

As an aside, the bass there loved Wally Divers, so I'd take with a grain of salt any thoughts of species-specific lures.

I do fairly well in the spring . The walleye tend to hit flukes and spinnerbaits as well as cranks. Got this gal on a blacknblue jignpig under a dock. I was ticked. Thought I had a big bass.
