Gear from Amazon.com?

Featured Replies

I noticed Amazon.com has some reels for sale. With Super Savings on shippping I could get a reel for 15  dollars less than driving to BassPro or ordering it from elsewhere. M

My question is has anyone ordered fishing from them and what is the quality recieved?

Thanks

I got a Fenwick HMX 6'6" trigger stick delivered in perfect condition from Amazon for 38 and some change. Thats the cost of shipping for Cabelas and even with free shipping from places like TW, that is still at least 60 bucks cheaper. The trick with Amazon is to just order those super deals and you have to monitior them daily 8-)

There was a thread awhile back about Techna AVs on sale for 78 dollars at Amazon. I was one of the people who ordered one, received it in perfect condition. I think that out of everyone who ordered a Techna AV, which was maybe 5 or 6 people, one person had a problem, but sent it back for a replacement rod. I would say go for it!!  ;)

Some companys make products special for discount companys with cheaper parts and some just buy in bulk or under contracts.

Not sure what Amazons deal is

Amazon steers buyers to sellers, basically. The HMX I got through them is exactly to the somewhat 15 or so I have owned through out the years. It is identical the rods currently on the racks at our local Cabelas

The reel is an ABU 4600 C3 for $69.00 everywhere I have priced them has been $79.00 and by the time I pay for shipping or drive to the nearest store I have spent 10 to 15 dollars more. That is why I was asking. Thanks for your replies.

sometimes i get stuck with that decesion, but the fact your in bpro/cabelas or whatever is just worth it to me

Although I read some "horror" stories about Amazon, my one experience with fishing gear was positive.  Some etailers, such as ***, will price match if you are concerned.  If I see another fantastic deal on Amazon, I will probably order from them again (assuming Amazon is the retailer).  Amazon is an authorized Fenwick dealer.

I had a friend say the same thing to me just the other day.

They have their own warehouses and stock all kinds of merchandise.  I have bought from them for years and i can say that there customer service is second to none.  right up there with LLBean.

in the past few months I have bought a sony tv and a garmin gps.  both of these items were "in stock" which means you are buying directly from amazon.

I have never bought fishing tackle from them.  BPS Cabellas' or Tackle warehouse get my on line business for fishing stuff.

I don't like the "new and used from..." which is vendors.  If Amazon does not have what I want in stock themselves, I shop somewhere else.

I recently puchased a Fenwick Techna AV from them. I recieved it with the tip broken off. Their customer service is World Class. I got back on line and was able to pring a return authorization label and they contacted UPS. Packaged and put on the porch for pickup, painless. They sent a new rod UPS Next Day on their ticket and was recieved in good condition. As I stated their service is World Class. By the way I paid $66.00 and change for the rod. Use them if you find what you are looking for.

If i'm looking for a used product, i'll look on eBay

tackleware house will price match from amazon just call them and tell them what site ex amazon and they will search it and will price match if its cheaper

8-)

The company i work for sells on amazon. It can be frustrating at times because im in the companion/livestock business. Id say 80 % of my returns are from not knowing what they ordered was sapposed to do. I always just goto ebay but maybe ill have to check it out more if deals are to be had.
