  1. I just picked up one of the newer split grip lightning rods. I also suggest trying a baitcaster. I've still got my first 79.00 diawa after 5-6 years its still going strong. I've pulled in many 5-15 pound fish with it of all types ranging, from bass, catfish, whitebass, wipers, carp. Im looking at steping up to a revo s
  2. Figured id give you guys a heads up if you havnt looked lately in the clearence part.
  3. Hit up your wal-marts for clearence items. I wiped mine out on 3/0 offset hooks for a buck a pack.
  4. Ive been doing this at my local golf pond. I like it cause it fun watching the blue gill go crazy when the bass start in on em haha. Kinda morbid but its fun to watch nature. How do you guys run your hooks in the bluegill. Ive only tried one way and they dont stay alive long.
  5. For a intro baitcaster i love mine. Only dislike i have is the drag system. Gotta get it juuuuuuuust right.
  6. thats kinda what i was thinking too. Thats what it felt like on the ol handometer. 2.5-3. Thing about took off with my chair haha. was baiting another hook not paying attention.
  7. wanted something different from bass fishing so i hit the river and pulled this in. what do you guys think as far as length as weight? The tacke box tray is 14 inches. my shoe is a sixe 10. haha just to give you a little idea.
  8. I must be missing them everytime. You can fish the whole pond so i start in different spots everytime. Its not that big. My other ponds i goto i can still knock em out just this little guy is frustrating. I have 5 catch and release ponds around me. So im always on decent sized fun fish to catch. This is just the closest. The fishing pressure was really bad for a while but in the last month i havnt seen anyone out there.
  9. My small little golf coarse pond has some nice fish in it, but here in the past month they just will not bite anything i throw at them unless its a live bluegill i catch. Then they come alive and goto town trying to get that sucker while im trying to get the bluegill to shore. I hate going out to the garden and having to dig up some worms. Ive always caught them on berkly worms and a shallow diving crank. Over the past month i'll catch some dinks with my 7" powerworms and ive thrown cranks, spinners, jerk, jigs. multiple colors on everything. THey just will not produce. The bluegill i catch most of the time are way to big since the small guys i assume are hiding out so they dont get slammed. so i spend more time fishing gill than i do the bass. The only place where my worm is producing is in kinda like what would resemble a river stream connecting the two parts of the pond. Its nice and rocky and i bounce the worm off the rocks and let the current take it if i have it weightless.
  10. Man thats nice looking. The spool looks huge compared to my diawa 100h
  11. great news. Only bad thing is your bud will prob never see a dime but atleast you got the boat back. Id deff take a 30 pack of the guys fav beer to him.
  12. If you want to know for sure instead of just guessing. If you have acces to a fuel pressure gauge hook it up and watch. But my .2 cents It is deffently sounds like it is running lean. Cheap easy to replace should be replaced often anyway go ahead and put a new filter on it. You need to know what kind of pressure you are getting from the pump or you will eventually burn the motor up. If it keeps buring out up top what kind of temps are you seeing?
  13. Ive been searching in a 6 hour radius. I been more on focus to boats in iowa, nebraska, kansas, southdakota, I know the time is comming for deals to be popping up. I'm not in a major hurry since its about time to be ice fishing anyway haha. Ive got a bass pro a few hours away i hope i can check in there from time to time see what comes in.
  14. I have been looking at ebay and craigslist virtually every week. Where i live either people buy them and never get rid of them or im looking in the wrong spots. Ive searched every dealer in the state. Nw iowa isnt the best place to find much of anything
  15. I am new to boats. I was looking at just getting a little 14 footer for the ponds but the soon to be wife would rather have something nice for the lakes all about a hour to two hours from us. A local dealer has this 2002 NITRO NX750 DC W/ 2002 MERCURY 90 HP AND 2002 TRACKER TRAILER. TRANSOM SAVER, STING RAY, MOTOR GUIDE BOW MOUNT, ZERCOM FLASHER IN BOW, BOTTOMLINE AT CONSOLE, 1 PED. SEAT, 1 BUTT SEAT sorry for the caps cut and paste from dealer site. The boat is the green. for 8500.00. we sat in some nice new rangers at the fair tonight from the same dealer. But i dont wanna spend that kinda coin. Can anyone suggest something under 10k that will do me well for a couple years then upgrade once i figure out what i want in a boat. as far as features and such.
  16. If you do slice please solder and heatshrink. One thing i cannot stand when im looking at other's handy work is the shortcuts they take. If the eagle on does not work if you are somewhat handy you can get a a/b switch and some waterproof mulex(sp) connectors and wire it yourself and when up front just switch it. so it will kill power to the one you are not using.
  17. If its just boiling down to space. rent a storage unit. T The little inflatable hardbottom jobs dont cost much and might just be what you need. I just know if it was me id poke a hole in the thing haha.
  18. That sucks man. That is my main problem with jon boats. I want one and will get one but its a fear of mine. I'm going to put insurance on mine just for this reason. I hope you get it back man.
  19. The company i work for sells on amazon. It can be frustrating at times because im in the companion/livestock business. Id say 80 % of my returns are from not knowing what they ordered was sapposed to do. I always just goto ebay but maybe ill have to check it out more if deals are to be had.
  20. congrats on the pb.
  21. I dont have them either but it sure is cheaper to pay shipping than to drive the 3 hours haha >
  22. I'm so close its sick. If it wasnt for a family death and travel expense. Id be picking it up. Still might but, I cant afford a trolling motor for it haha since all that cash is now going for gas. Its a 07 alumacraft 1648 with a new shorland'r trailer.
  23. I'm really hopeing to have one for fall season if not ill get one next year. I am not gunna miss fish i could catch if i could just get to them. Ive got one priced just gotta go fill out the papers.
  24. you'll like this even more haha i was flipping a blugill tonight haha held up fine had the tension knob tight as heck. no birdsnest with braid. I am really happy with mine. I just wish it let you know the setting. nothing clicks besides the brake. I like knowing that stuff so i can reproduce how i like the settings of drag and tension.
  25. I did no research on baitcasters and was in cabella's and picked it out of the bunch for the price range i wanted. Its my first baitcaster and i am very pleased. As stated the drag kinda sucks but i havnt had any problems it is just inconsistant on settings. The spool tension knob is very sensitive, and the brakes work great. Mine is the 6:3:1. For a beater i like it. I will deff upgrade and have it for a back up
