This is why IKE is so great!

Recommended Posts

That's one of the reasons - another is what you saw if you watched his City Limits show when he was fishing with the kid in Philly.  He is definitely a showman, but is a great guy besides.

Hey Glenn, did you get a chance to interview Ike among the list of other great guys you talked to?  That would be sweet if so.  If so I need a link to that interview.

Ike is my FAVORITE bass pro out there right now besides Omori, Crews, Scroggins, Duckett, and a few others.  His articles in Bassin' are normally great and no one beats his enthusiasm on the water.  A guy that can get that excited about a big fish can relate to the beginning tourney guys and recreational guys alike.

He has done a lot of outings with kids as well as put together a great club in New Jersey to get the bass fishing scene kicking there.  Great guy.  Like him or not he is huge for the sport and is a voice that gets a lot done.

I did more than interview him, I went fishing with him.  :)

Couldn't say enough good stuff about Iaconelli. He is a great guy and is always willing to help you out with anything.

I love it when he just stares at the camera and gives that look like nothing happened.

The most amazing part of that video was him remebering to keep part of himself in the boat.

I'll second the fact that he is a great guy especially outside of fishing. About 2 years ago he was in Chicago and he went out with myself and 2 other guys for pizza after a fishing show. It was so cool because we got spend 2 or 3 hours with him just talking about whatever.

Your so lucky! I would give up most of my gear just to talk to him!

It was awesome for that to happen. I got lucky because the 2 guys I was with helped him when he was here the year before working a booth. So they were supposed to go out with him the last time but it never worked out. That right there might be reason enough to join a club. You never know who your friends may know.

Too funny, I just posted this comment on the General forum, which would also apply here:

I LOVE IKE'S SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is the best, most entertaining fishing show on TV.

I gaurantee that his man on the street interviews are not scripted.  People's assumption that the east river, chicago river, or other urban water bodies are too polluted or crime ridden to hold fish or be fished is a common belief by the general public.

That is the beauty of his show, it shows a passionate angler trying to bring fishing to the inner cities.  I love the episode where he is fishing in central park, and some British tourists are awestruck that he actually caught a fish.  It was good sized healthy bass!     I also love the episode in Philly where he fishes with a random kid on the river bank...or the episode in Tampa, or Sacramento,....i guess i like em all!

I hope Mike Iaconelli keeps this show going, and even expands a few episodes where he picks a few random guys/girls from the busy city street to go fishing with him to show them the great sport it is.  Keep bringing fishing to the Inner City Mike! It is a great idea, and you are just the guy to accomplish it...

Some may not like his style, but there is no denying that Mike is an ambassador of the sport!

I love IKE! (in a non-f$#$tty way - to quote BTLS)  I hope to enter a few pro tourneys next year as a co-anlger and will be crossing my fingers to be matched up with him.

Even though I live in Orlando, which is full of standard fishable waters, since seeing his show City Limits, I have taken great joy in trying my hand in some of the more "Urban" watebodies here in town and surprisingly have caught some nice fish out of waters you would never think to fish!!!

Ike has always been a wonderful ambassador for bass fishing.

He was an outsanding presenter at the old Bassmaster University seminars and if you ever have the opportunity to hear him speak you will be amazed at how he relaxes the audience and presents his material in an organized and simple way for all to understand.

He is my favorite pro.

As for one rule to change in tournaments?  Remove all "off limits" restrictions.

Glenn, thanks for a great interview with Ike.

I'm with a lot of others.  Ike is my favorite pro.  I bought the book while I was in Iraq (had my wife send it to me) and I bet I've read it 4 times.  It's just a great read and it really shows you a lot about the guy.  When I won my first bass fishing tournament, I found out that I act exactly like him when I bag a 5lb or better bass.  I'd say that, because of his energy and techniques, he'd be the guy I'd want to go fishing with, hands down.

Glenn, you have done an awesome job with these exclusive interviews.  All of them have been helpful and all of them were conducted professionally.  Thanks man.

Bassmaster used to have all of the top catch videos up but I don't think they do anymore.  They are all a pretty entertaining watch.

Although he isn't a favorite pro of mine, Iaconelli pulled off something crazy here.  He didn't even get his hat wet.  Props.
