Ike no longer with Daiwa

Just seen it on another site, Ike is going to fish with Abu rods and reels next year. Ike already was a Berkley guy, seems like a Pure fishing rod/reel deal for him is not a stretch. I wonder if we will see and Ike Rod and/or Revo (like the Skeet) from Abu.

Ike got the press release, the big press release but Tak Omori is no longer with Daiwa.  Two Classic winners go and they keep Hill, Monroe and Folkstadt?  Good anglers but what's wrong with that picture?

Don't forget they dumped Brauer last year.

Sounds like some penny pinching going on at Daiwa.

I agree. Sounds like they keep dumping the guys who require the higher dollar figure. I'm shocked of Ike though since they just introduced his lineup this past year. Look for them on clearance any day now

Thats a dang shame. And too bad the ike rods arent all that great to begin with, he never did have an ike model reel so I doubt abu will put one out but ya never know. I'll pass on that abu stuff since its all made in korea, I only fish japanese reels.

I don't know. Ike is as outlandish as skeet and has a larger fan following I would say. I don't think it's a stretch that Abu may give him his own model. It would have to be way different than Skeet's in my opinion. Maybe a more finesse version like a Premiere. Expect flames as well  ;D

Wow....that's kinda surprising, I bet he still fishes with a L&T ;D

Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised is they came out with an Ike line of rods or reels, he's got a big follow. Maybe they'll put a litle Ike sticker on the new SX and give it some flames on the knobs.

WOW!!!!

Penny wise and dollar foolish on Daiwa's part I think!!!!! Maybe Daiwa needs the extra $$$ to sponsor Manabu Kurita???? ::)

Has Ike made any comments or press releases about this?? If anyone finds this out please post.

This is from another site...

Ike noted: "This partnership is huge. It's a privilege to be working with Abu Garcia, Spiderwire and Berkley. When you think about fishing these are the big names that everyone recognizes. The partnership with these major fishing brands is one that holds a lot of promise. Their technologically advanced products will be a tremendous asset to me on the competitive circuits. I look forward to continuing a very successful relationship with the folks at Pure Fishing."
