New canadian tournament record was set Oct 23 2010 at Lake Simcoe. Big fish for the tournament was 8.05lb smallie but not part of the winning weight. Winning weight was 5 smallies weighing 31.55 lbs thats a 6.31lb average. Here is the link.

Man, what a sack of fish!  To think that my only trip there was wasted fishing for perch in the middle of the winter makes it worse.

Watched the video a couple days ago. I think the 8# smallmouth was weighed in around 1:00 on the slider. The winning bag was weighed in around 1:06.

The 8# smallmouth is a monster!

Might be the only lake around where consistent 20+ pound bags of smallies and largies can be found.

Man what a sack, I now have a destination to go after smallies upon retirement.
