Pro staff question again

Featured Replies

Hey guys its been about a year or so since I posted this but I am just askin again. Are there any line and lure companies that work with minors well? I just don't want to send my resume and stuff to companies that won't even give a reply back like Strike King. All help is appreciated.

Your killing your chances with your attitude , send your resume out to everyone and prepare for rejection by most of them but not every one. It's called "working your *** off" to accomplish your goals.

GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah..Your right....I got my first one and just kinda quit I know I shouldn't have but I did....Now I'm trying to start back up

If you cant accept rejection then have fun in the game called life.  Just send your resume to all the companies you believe in and hope for the best.

Don't be bitter because they don't reply back... How many emails/resumes do you think Strike King (or any big company) gets about people wanting to be on staff? They would have to hire someone just to send out rejection emails! Vicious has a good youth team, but if you don't use their line, I wouldn't go emailing them... Stick with what you know and love.

Only email companies that make products you use. For example, I'm not going to email Vicious because I've had nothing but bad experiences using their line.

I know tin..Lol I didn't think everyone would think I was just giving up lol. School has really taken priority over fishing right now. So I just stopped.

You have a better chance of me sending you my paycheck than you do getting a strike king sponsorship.hahahah

I have a few very close friends that are sponsored by Strike King, and Strike King is very good to them. Although they had a better attitude than basspro96 (sorry, but you can't "just quit"), I wouldn't ever completely rule it out.

It was a joke form a previous post.....no disrespect to you, your friends, or strike king

None taken my man. Just sayin

He said, "school has taken a priority."  Yes, he CAN just quit.  And rightfully so.  Probably one of the more intelligent choices he could make.

Original comment I based my response off of:

If he did in fact drop his sponsors for school, then like you said, good call.

Stuff like that sucks, but its a fact of life. In high school, I had to bow out a spot in a working band because of bad grades. Both working as a professional musician and school would be great learning experiences. I'm glad I quit. There were other bands later, and music doesn't pay my bills now.

;)

Yea school comes first. Right now, I have to decide should I work or not because I'm losing time to study and my grades are reflecting that. I need the money to fish, but I need school to continue.

Don't ask for sponsorship, ask to be on their regional pro-staff teams. You may not get things for free but you will more than likely get them at half price. I have a line, reel, rod and two lure companies where I get them half off.

Doesn't sound like much but it adds up over a year. I change line sometimes every couple of weeks. I may be on Seminole flipping grass this week and have a tournament at Marin or Lanier the next so have to go to light line.. One thing to do if you are like me is buy extra spools for your reels. It will save you a ton of buying fishing line.

Try to make some of the bigger fishing tournaments or the expo's (BASS and FLW have them). At the Classic expo, most of the company reps are there and you can talk to them face to face. Bring your resume with you so you can personally hand it to them. If you talk to someone, get their card so you can send them a thank you note and not a bad idea to attach another copy of your resume (just in case they misplaced it!)

I'm not sponsored, or prostaff. But, I can tell you from a business standpoint this is 100% true... I can't tell you how many times my bosses have brought me a resume to look at because of that follow up thank you note or email they had attached.
