Mini-Boat club?

Featured Replies

I was throwing around the idea of starting a mini-boat club sometime in the future.  I own a two-man, plastic boat and fish quite a bit at small lakes or in coves at bigger lakes.  We've got several small city lakes, etc. around my area to fish. Has anyone here had experience with a mini-boat club?  If so, any feedback is appreciated.  I wouldn't know where to start but it sounds like fun.

I have never heard of any but I would be very interested in joining one if there were any.

That would be a great way to have a little tourney and get to know other fishermen on the same level as me--mini-boater!  John boats, plastic two-mans, canoes, paddle boats, heck--even tubes.  This could be a great thing!

I would love it. I fish as a non-boater in my club, but i have a 12 foot aluminium converted bass boat and want to be a boater.

Hey AOY,

I live in southern Oklahoma and Oklahoma has a tube and mini boat club. Or they did have cause I used to fish it. You could fish out of a float tube or any boat 12ft and under with no more than a 10hp motor. Was a ton of fun, had a lot of members, and fished quite a few different lakes. All the members were really good people and I LOVED fishing in those tournaments!

I'm going to do some checking in the next couple of weeks.   I might put up some flyers for a get-together of some sort.  Might post around the tackle shops here at some point just to see if there is interest.

There's a story in the new BM mag regarding fishing in small boats on small waters.  It speaks of such clubs (one being in Fort Worth, Tx) near me.  I looked for information regarding such clubs at the end of the article to no avail, just information about small boat mfg.'s.

Does anyone know of such a club near DFW?  and if so, how could I make contact with someone?

Hey....I'm sitting here reading everyone's reply and thinking that this would be a great idea. However, with the exception of AOY and Fisher, I don't know where anyone is from!! I'm here around Austin, TX and I would definitely be interested. I have a canoe adn would love to have a little club with some small tourneys or just get-togethers.

Chance, look at their profile (the little icon over to the left).  Some of us have the location listed, most are not specific, I think for security reasons, but it will give you an idea (State, region)

That sounds like something really fun.  I have a little boat thats perfect for pond hopping.  If there was such a club or tournament in Miss. ,  I'd join.

There are small bass clubs everywhere.  I'm a member of Bassjons out of Virginia.  There is a website bassjons.com.  You can get some real good information on starting a new club.

Check out the Small Boat Bass Club of Omaha, NE.  Our website is www.smallboatbassclub.com.  We were mentioned in that article on small boat clubs, but they kinda misunderstood.  The focus of our club is not to exclude anyone, but to allow everyone interested to join in.
