Color that's worked for me when no other does the job!!

Featured Replies

Baby Bass! If no color is working for me, I'll use baby bass especially in clear water. no matter the water (as long as you're fishing for bass and know they are there) It 'ill work!

Do you agree?

No I don't. I haven't experienced any particular color being better than any other color unless it was for my ability to see it being taken. The fish have no preference. I have used 19 different colors on a particular clear water lake this year and all have produced equally well.

wow I'd really like to go where you're fishing! seems like the bass around here are really finicky

but if im usin soft plastics i always turn to pumpkin color but if im usin crankbaits i usually try somethin with a lot of dark green and white stomach or blue and with orange on the belly.

No. There are many colors that will work.

D-O-E-S is the correct spelling.

if baby bass always works for you then why try other colors? if no matter what it works.

Folks, spell check is free, USE IT!!

If you watch the Lunkerville show, Mike testifies to how clear the water is that I fish.  Pick a color, it doesn't matter.  Finding the fish is one thing, catching them is the easy part.

sambrochill, I fish bodies of water in Virginia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and Texas. The same applies at every location.

The particular body of water I referred to is Hunting Run Lake in Virginia. I use so many colors because I use up so many plastic worms catching lots of bass. I just buy whatever color a retailer has in stock when I need some. I like to carry some color that is a lot different than what is the "favorite" color when I am fishing with someone that swears by a particular color just to prove to them that it does not matter.

These are the Zoom colors I have used so far this year:

Baby Bass, Mardi Gras, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Purple, Watermelon Red, Watermelon, Watermelon Candy, Red Shad, Cotton Candy, Pumpkin, June Bug, Limeaid, Bubble Gum, Smokin Blue, Green Pumpkin Green, Green Pumpkin Red, Bait Fish, Moccasin Blue, White, Seedless Watermelon, Seedless Pumpkin, Junebug Red, Red Bug, Yellow, Lemon, Lemon Shad, Red/ Black Core, Natural Blue, Cherry Seed, Icicle, Green Pumpkin Blue, Watermelon/ Chart. Tail

I just add to this list as the opportunity presents itself and there are a lot more colors available. The list is just the colors of Trick and finesse worms. I use some other colors in other bait styles.

LBH, that list is the worms I have in my boats today. There are some colors that I have used and no longer have a package to refresh my memory, they worked great too since I used all of them.

If I fish for a half hour and don't get a bite I move or change presentations. I use the basic colors on a wide variety of waters, from dark to clear. I use my favorite colors and don't expieriment much. Never seem to have much trouble catching fish. My last year in my old club I use only 4 baits, never changing colors and finished #1 out of 30.

My list for plastics & Jigs  ;)

Cinnamon Pepper Neon/June Bug Laminated (Camouflage)

Black Blue

Black Neon

Junebug/Blue

Watermelon Neon

I agree that color doesn't really matter, we all just have our favorites that seem to work more often.

Mine are:

Watermelon seed

Green Pumpkin

June Bug

Whenever I buy a new type of plastic I usually reach for these colors.

Idon't have one color that works best, but I do have color preferences on different baits.  Examples...

ratltrap  - first choice is blue/chrome

senko - watermelon/blk

crankbaits - chartreuse/white

worm - junebug

spinnerbait - white

jig - blk/blue

chug bug - orange belly

when these solid colors don't produce to my satisfaction I often find that some kind of "ghost" pattern will work.

That's my story an I'm stickin to it.

Camo

Junebug/Red

Watermellon/Red

Black/Blue

Pumpkin

Green/Pumpkin

PB&J

I try not to get caught up in colors as much as location, location, location. Most will catch fish if you have figured out the area.

At least in my case, I find that when I work a color I'm not too comfortable with I don't work it as long and in many times differently (action wise, often rushing it). By doing this, I don't give other colors a chance and assume they don't work.

I can't really break this habit or belief because if I'm in a situation where I'm changing lure colors to something outside my norm it's usually because I'm about to get skunked and I'm already flustered! ;)

I guess I should try working other colors earlier. :-?

My confidence colors include watermelon/red, green pumpkin/black, and baby bass.
