Ky_Lake_Dude
Well I went out today with my dad at Beech Lake and we didn't even get a bite! > It was probably cuz the water never got higher than 41.5 degrees. I'll get em ext week though.
Fish Chris
So what's wrong with that ? I get skunked on a regular basis. Did it again today, as a matter of fact. As long as you can still have fun "when you don't catch any fish", then you can't really have a "bad trip" ! Plus, then when you do smoke them, it makes your success even sweeter ! :-) Gotta' pay those dues ! Peace, Fish
Bryant.
Getting skunked is a part of fishing and it happens to everyone. The way I think about it is that if i'm out fishing then I am doing something I love to do and nothing can ruin that day.
clipper
I got skunked last week too. See below.
Guest avid
Anyone who says they don't get skunked is a liar. And that includes the self proclaimed guru's who declare with a straight face that they get a dollar a word and then say things like....... I know exactly where I am going to fish. I work only that piece of shoreline, or off shore structure. I work it and then move to the next spot I planned to fish. I will guarantee you I will catch fish, If it looks like a pile of crap, and smells like a pile of crap. It's a pile of crap.

jayhawkfishin
Think of it this way. I haven't been able to go fishing for over 3 months.
Fish Chris
And one other thing: If at first you don't suceed, then fishing is a much better choice than sky-diving :-) Fish
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 13, 2007 Super User Share Posted February 13, 2007 Think of it this way. I haven't been able to go fishing for over 3 months. The way it looks here today I won't be going until next month.
alltimefishingzack
I get skunked to but not as much as you people do :-? . I usually am a plastics fisherman, or thats my specialty. I havent zeroed out in the last 10 times ive gone. But i have caught like 2 and then thats all
John J.
I get skunked quite a bit, but I also have my glorious times too!! I really need to learn more about working texas and carolina rigged plastics. Wacky riggin or weightless rigging I am good at, but texas and carolina and drop shotting, I haven't had much practice at it. I am mainly a hard bait fisherman. I am excellent at the spinner-bait. With my baitcaster and a 1/4-1/2 ounce spinner-bait (BOOYAH! Baby!) I can catch some bass and side cast that bad boy anywhere I want it to go. Matter of fact I was fishing on Lake Anna with one of my fishing buddies and we were 20-30 yards off the bank and there was a bush on the bank and it had a hole in it, I figured maybe there was something hiding up in there. Let me tell ya I put that spinner-bait where some people would have trouble putting a worm in! ;D Getting skunked is a part of fishing! You don't catch em all the time...other wise it'd be called bass catching rather than bass fishing!
New 2 Bass
As a matter o' fact yes. I got beat by my 3yr old kid last time we went out. No lie. I cast it out for him and he reels it in. He nailed two dinks on a senko. Me....nada (A hundred casts, mind you. I wasn't going down easy). Next he proceeds to trash talk me, saying he's the pro, and I catch grass! I love fishing with my kid. Makes getting skunked one of the best feelings out there.
Super User Catt Posted February 14, 2007 Super User Share Posted February 14, 2007 I've said it before and I'll say it again a day on the lake with your dad is a memory to relish, catching would have been lagniappe

edbassmaster
Dude, I am literally shaking because I havent fished in sooo loong. Its too cold and everything is frozen. Just be glad you can get out this time of year. Besides, the last time I did go a few weeks ago I got skunked. I still had fun anyway. I cannot wait till it warms up. Just wish some of you guys lived around here...nobody fishes around here.
Cravin
Nothing is more dishearting than a two day tourney with nothing in the boat baking in the hot sun. We always poked fun at my dad when he was really into fishing, He would hold his tongue between his teeth at the corner of his mouth and was almost always serious. Everytime he would miss a strike or had no luck we'd ask him if he held his tongue right or did he forget to make his face. I would suggest making a face next time or bring a buddy to pick on....it worked for us, We always had a good time. Hope your tear'n em up Dad , Don't forget to make your face. hi_steel_basser
I Hate Wintertime. It's easier to get skunked when the water is cold than any other time of year. I finally caught my first fish this year after about 20-25 hours of fishing time. The water here is in the low, low 50's. And it looks like they will be working ALOT of overtime from March through late April. 2nd year in a row I'll be workin' when the fish are biting. I might just have to find a new job. ;D I'm not entirely joking.
