Boredom+Kayak =Great Success!

Featured Replies

Ever since I graduated from school on the 19th, my buddy and me have been non-stop fishing at our lake. We started growing tired of fishing from the bank on Tuesday, so we ran to his house and got his 2 person Ocean Kayak since we didn't have anything else. We weren't really expecting this to work, but boy did it ever. Within the next hour and a half we caught 25 Bass ranging between 2-4 pounds! We would slowly paddle up into a promising slue and had great angles that we couldn't have otherwise achieved in a traditional boat. We were fishing with Texas Rigged Zoom U-Tale Super Salt Plus Junebug colored plastic worms, then when it got darker we switched to the Motor oil-Chartreuse color.

That's an awesome day in my book. I got a kayak this year after borrowing a friend's a few times last season and can't think of a better platform for hitting the hard to reach spots on any body of water. Keep it up!

I used to kayak fish.  I liked it much better for flats/inshore saltwater fishing.  Work doesn't allow me to get to the coasts much anymore, so I sold my kayaks and bought a jonboat instead.

With that being said...

I think they are a great fishing platform and perfect for those who can't afford a bigger boat.  On the other hand I've known guys who have sold their flats boats and now exclusively use kayaks.

way to go man!! kayak is really fun in the river....also i prefer fishing in a ocean kayak way more than a enclosed one....for several reasons...first off your not like trapped in there and can do what you want with your legs....also if you ask me they are wayyyy more sturdy and wont flip as easy, at least thats the way my buddies yak is...i love that thing....especially for yakin' out big tuna heads while shark fishing in Buxton on the point in OBX!!! cant get enough of it!!
