Hit a new pond yesterday evening

Featured Replies

A pond right up the road that belongs to a lont-time friend of my wife's family HAD the potential of having some good fish. I go down there yesterday about 6 PM loaded with 4" lizards, finess worms, and some spinner baits. I figured the bass would be active since it'd been overcast and cooler most of the day, plus there was a thunderstorm off in the distance. Well, I had a decent day....IF I'D BEEN CATFISHING!!!!! I caught 6 catfish on lizards and worms. I don't understand?!?!?! Not one bass. The biggest probably went 4 lbs....but again, I wasn't there for the freakin catfish. This pond is OFF the bass list. >:(

I wouldnt give up on it,just because you didnt catch any bass.Maybe you were not useing what they wanted.

I actually did try a buzz bait and a couple of poppers for about an hour. I didn't have ANY potential takers on them. Maybe there's not any bass in that pond. My brother-in-law said he didn't think there were any in there. The people who own the pond have only stocked it with bream and catfish. They haven't put anything in there in about 5 years though.

Those catfish must have been really active!!  :o

I wouldnt totaly rule bass out after just one trip.  :-/
