rapala x-rap subwalk 9

Featured Replies

Anyone tried this bait out?  Just got one...looks sweet.

I picked one up, I've only thrown it for about 20 minutes and didn't get anything on it, but it has some SWEET action!

I am very happy with the 2 I bought. Both in the spring and during the top water bite they worked great

My friend has one and I fished with him when he used it. He only caught one fish, but it was a solid 3 pounder. It doesn't really have a walk-the-dog action like a Spook or Sammy, but more of a wider gliding action.

i fished mine once, caught a 4lber on about the 3rd cast, and never fished it again.

i should get around to fishing it some more. :-/

I have one, but I can not get it to walk (glide) like it should.  I have used it on a 7'0 M/F and a 7'0 MH/MF crankbait rod.  Also tried swivels and tying it directly to the line.  Nothing gives it the action it is supposed to have.  I can walk a sammy perfectly with the crankbait rod, but not the subwalk.  It ticks me off too, because it looks like such a sweet bait.   Sorry if I am hijacking the thread, but what am I doing wrong?

it doesnt quite "walk the dog" in the literal term. it more just jumps aroiund underwater. i just twitch mine on a cadence. i dont think it has to walk the dog perfectly to draw stikes.

Finally got a chance to use mine today (Glass Ghost model).  It looks pretty sweet in the water, but it can be a challenge to keep a consistent motion.  I got the best results when using a combo of small twitches followed by one big twitch to make it glide off to one side then a short pause.  I got 5 on in about 2 hours, but lost a couple (had a pike follow it in too).  Thing casts a freakin mile!

For some instruction on how to fish the lure, check out the video on the Rapala site or on you tube.
