This. I put my cables in a sandwich ziplock zipped as tight as it can go and put a rubber band around them. I've never had any issues and I've gone highway speeds in a monsoon with my yak on top of my vehicle...

Garmin Echomap Plus IMO I run the 93sv, but the 6" and 7" units are solid too.

I run the 9" Echomap plus on my kayak and love it. I had the 7" before and the 9" is so much better when running a splitscreen. Plus Livescope is insane.

I would highly recommend that you go with the Angler Ace. The 4oz doesn't seem like much, but it actually makes a big difference in a paddle. Everyone already told you that the NRS Chinook is the gold standard and they were right!

As long as both units are registered to your Garmin account using either ActiveCaptain or Garmin Express, you are able to download maps to your own SD card through Garmin Express. Plug your Lakeview G3 card into a card reader that's plugged into your computer, open Garmin Express, and register the card. You'll then be able to download maps to your own SD cards, but they'll only be unlocked for units registered to your account at the time you download them.

IF you complain that your PFD isn't comfortable enough to wear all day you just haven't found the right one! Try a NRS Chinook, it's an amazing kayak PFD for fishing!

Go peddle. Save more and go peddle even if you need to go with a Hobie Compass instead of an Outback. I have a paddle kayak (Native FX 15) and it's great, but peddle is a game changer.

I previously had my transducer mounted on an arm and hated it. The drag to one side required constant correction and was unpleasant while paddling. I made a rear mount for my ducer and mounted it off of the rear of my kayak directly inline with the hull. No more drag to one side or another and great image quality. Now that I'm running a Hobie Outback, I don't have those issues. The Hobie Guardian plate is an awesome solution!

I've had a Native FX 15 since 2016 and it's a great kayak. Very roomy and stable; I've had me, my wife, and our 3 kids in it! That said, I'll be picking up my new Hobie Outback soon and can't wait! Pedal drive will be a game changer for me!
