Lost two pigs yesterday... Rotten Luck

Featured Replies

Went fishing last night at a local slough. I haven't seen many people fishing it much because of the heat. Went out last night about 7pm and fished till dark. I was flipping in some weed beds and a culvert. First fish bit at the culvert and almost had him in untill he threw the hook on a jump, I guestimated about 7-8lbs. Next I started flipping into the weed beds and first throw hooked another pig. It ran about 30-40 yards toward some logs and cover. I got him into about 10 feet and he must have saw me and totally did a 180 and snapped the line. Guessed 8-10 lbs. He probably would have broke my record. I was fishing with the wife and she had the camera ready for the pull out of the water because she knew it was my probably my PB. Just rotten luck :(

Hey it happens.

I was at this bar one time and...........................................wait.

Oh................you mean big bass.

nevermind

;D ;D Avid you're the man .

Your problem is having the camera ready before you get the fish in. I had a big one (what at that time would have been my new pb) on the line, yelled to a friend to grab the camera and the scale out of the tackle box, and no more than two seconds after the words left my mouth the fish jumped and spit my jig. I now no longer mention getting the camera or scale, until that fish is on land

These kinda stories drive me CrAZy.  :D

I bet Chris Fish has lost some bass, maybe some BIGUNS, and I have lost some, too.

BUT THEY DON'T BREAK THE LINE!

Set your drag properly, use stronger line or do both! Constantly check your line for nicks and wear.

Unless you are wrapped up on something or cut, a fish should NEVER break your line.

Sorry Idaho***er...this rant wasn't mean to disparage you, but it comes up a lot and WAY too often.
