What was this guy doing?

Featured Replies

I went out on Smithville Lake here in MO and had a good day. I had the bite early on weightless trickworms but it quickly shut down. We tried a few things but we ended up throwing crankbaits through and around a creek channel we found that had some shad action. I caught 3 under 2 lb bass and my buddy was fairing a little better, catching a 4 lb and 5 lber.

Anyway, with all this bass action it was my (pleasant?) surprise to catch this beautiful walleye. 30.5" 12.5 lbs!

For reference, I'm 6' 2", 200 lbs.

That is a great eye! I'm not quite sure that it looks to be twelve pounds. Great fish anyways, grab it under the gills and lose the gloves.

What the hell are you doing with gloves on your hands?

is it just me or do all walleyes look like they've been dead for a few hours?

Nice walleyes both of you.  And I have to agree with the rest that it does not look like a 12 lb walleye, I catch them here in Idaho.  That other one is huge, and I would say looks more like a 12 lber.  Might need a new scale.

Yes, it is just you.

The guy in the pic with the huge walleye is not me.  I just took it off google images to show a reference of what a 12lb. walleye should look like.  Sorry for not clarifying.
