My favorite honeyhole 6/17/08

Featured Replies

We headed out to one of my favorite honeyholes after my husband got home from work yesterday. It was partly cloudy skies and at one point a little drizzle. Weather channel said that there was a chance of some pretty good thunderstorms and this was my favorite kinda weather to fish in so I was pretty excited!

All in all it turned out to be a good hour or two. I was super excited when I got 2 perch! The first perch that I got was huge. I did not get a picture of that one though. The darn thing stabbed me twice. I grabbed hold of the fish right behind the head and man did I get poked. I am not sure but I think these fish have some sort of poker behind the gill because it was not the spikes on top that go me. I was holding the fish the opposite direction. It hurt. That fish got me good.

Here is one of the perch that I got

All in all we managed quite a few fish. My husband got a nice fatty bass. His weighed 4.8 on the scale. This is his biggest for the day..

He also landed this cute little crappie on this big bait he was throwing. I could not believe it.  :D

This was my biggest for the day. It was the last fish that I caught.

One more thing... My youngest wanted to go to her favorite little pond when she got home from school. We did not have alot of time and did not stay too long but she ended up getting this fish and we did not know what it was. I took a small video ( forgive me but it is sideways) Any idea's on what it is? A few people have said it looks like a shad.

I almost forgot, My hubby came across this sign and I think it is the best sign ever. I asked him to take a pic of it for me.

Looks like you guys had a nice day...  The fish your daughter caught was a golden shiner,  good sized one too.

Nothing like a good day on the water with family.

Your daughter arguably caught the best  "big bass" bait, a golden shiner.   I think we all have been poked once or twice.  Saltwater fish seem to get me more than freshwater fish for some odd reason.  I guess because you don't lip most saltwater fish.

My wife also poked me in the eye when I woke her up at 4:30 am.  I won't tell ya why I woke her up but her pokes hurt as much as a perch's poke.

great job matstone family!  y'all always seem to have such a good time together fishin'.  that's cool. :)

Thanks everyone. We do always seem to have alot of fun when we are fishing whether were catching fish or not catching fish. We always seem to have ALOT of laughs.
