Bad traffic = good fishing!!

Featured Replies

We had a thunder storm roll through late this afternoon. At 5, I looked outside and saw the traffic was ALL backed up!  >:(  So I made up my mind that I wasn't about to sit through that so I hit the lake I get to fish at lunchtime (Black Hills for the MD posse). It was still raining when I got to the lake so I threw on the rain gear and walked down to the lake. It took about 30 minutes or so to get a bite, just a dink on a tube. I had another come up after a buzzbait but it missed the bait. It started clearing up so I switched up to a spinnerbait and managed two on a spinnerbait, one decent one and another dink. Then something changed, and I've been raking my brain trying to figure out what it was but I put down the spinnerbait and picked up the third rod I had rigged up with a buzzbait. Turned out to be a good choice! I managed 3 more bass in about 45 minute and missed two more. Here's a pics of two of the better bass. Thanks I-270! LOL!

Thanks! I'd been in a slump until my Father's day outing with my Dad. Guess he helped me get back in my groove a little!

Hey MskSlyr, no time for a hair cut! There's BASS to be caught!  ;D ;D ;D

rondef, if you have never fished Black Hills, you should give it a shot some time! That lake has some hogs! Earlier in the year I lost what would have easily been a new PB for me but thanks to a mental error (forgot to check my line) I broke her off on the hookset. I only saw her when she "tried" to jump to throw the swimbait I was throwing. Guessing she was in the 7-8 pound class.

Is it the one I am thinking of or did you pick up some different ones?   ;)

Good deal!!!  Glad to hear that is working out

muahahahahaha

I never have had luck at black hills it all seems soo deep do you know what depth you were catching your fish in basser, and do you know if they make maps of black hill?

Hey Boett,

The bass I caught on that outing were in 3-4' around submerged timber and stumps.

The visitor's center sells maps. They're not the greatest but they can help some (I believe the depth intervals are 10' if memory serves me right).
