I would like to learn how to double rig super flukes. Maybe a picture would be the easy way for me to figure it out.

A few things about this type of rig:

It is not limited to using one type or size of bait only.

I have used a combination of a SF jr with a regular,or a magnum with a regular.It looks like the bigger one is chasing the smaller one.

You can used 2 different colors.

You can put a bigger hook on or slightly weight one of them.

I have used this rig for trickworms,finesse worms,senkos,or other french fry type baits.

Changing the length of the leader line changes the actions also.

There is virtually no limit to the combinations you can come up with.

I have double wacky rigged baits doing this.

This rig can be used on a carolina rig too.

If your having one of those days where you just feel like screwing around on the water this can be fun to play with

I haven't rigged it like Dominion Dan posted with one swivel. I am sure it would work.I will try it also.

Here is a half azzed drawing of how I have done it.Total of 5 knots and takes about as long as rigging 2 carolina rigs.Note:leader lengths can be adjusted.

A really cool rig I'd never tried before this year. I picked it up from CJ.

One swivel, two hooks and two baits; with a lot of possibilities. Bass_fin@tic covered that well.

I think most fish this fairly shallow, but it works fished on the bottom too.

I haven't has the chance to try it, but this should be another option for cold water. Fish it low and slow.

Except that according to George Welcome that rig is illegal in Florida.  I read the statue and it is confusing to me so I quit fishing it.  I was using 3 way swivels I bought in Georgia.

Why would it be illegal?  I see no difference in this rig than the Sabiki rig used to catch bait or the guppy rig for bottom fishing.

Multiple hooks not attached to a singular bait are not allowed in some states.

Interesting.  Is there a difference for saltwater vs. freshwater?  Whenever I go saltwater fishing we troll a rig with 4 hooks and a spoon trailer for spanish mackerel.  Also like basn blvd said we use a sibiki(sp) for live bait, you can pull up 3 pinfish at a time.

Or jigging/casting spoons with a small jig tied behind,or a topwater with a another small bait trailing behind. :-?

or a drop shot rig with the "weight" being a 1/2 jig?

A sabiki rig is for bait fish, not game fish

and bottom fishing is done in salt, not fresh.

The double rig is considered a trot line which is illegal for freshwater game fish in Florida. You can use as many poles/rods as you want, but only 1 hook per pole.

I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything, but I don't see anywhere in there saying you can't use it... Could you point it out for me possibly??

Think I'll just keep doing what I do.I don't think it is cheating or being unfair.I am not using a cast net or a trot line with live shiners LOL.

I agree, heh... It wouldn't matter on the private lake in my neighborhood but I would still like to know for when I get out on the big public lakes...

I can't find where the statutes say specifically that you can not fish a double rigged fluke.

Last year I suggested this rig, a three way swivel with a deep crank on the bottom and a fly or fluke on the other line, and George Welcome pointed out that the FWC considers this a trot line and is illegal to use in FRESH water for GAME fish.

It is legal in GA where I bought some of these "striper rigs" but I was not convinced that it was legal in Fl so I quit using them.

If it is illegal then here is what you have to look forward to. The following was taken from the Fl statue that pertains to "recreational activities".

Level 2 violations result in a second degree misdemeanor and are criminal acts that typically involve taking fish it is illegal to take, fishing in areas that are closed, using illegal gear or counting violations (more than the bag limit). This is punishable by up to $500 and/or 60 days imprisonment at the discretion of the court. A second violation becomes a minimum $250 mandatory fine and up to a year in jail. Subsequent, convictions become progressively steeper.

You guys do what you want, I was just trying to pass on some information that might save you some grief.

Thank you for contacting the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

As long as one is fishing for gamefish with a rod and reel, there is no limit to the number of hooks / bait that may be on the line.

sign me up. lol.  i mentioned this to someone else and he said they used to tie bass flies to the back of surface poppers all the time and many times told the boss man how they were catching them. doesnt mean they didnt change it tho. good to know.
