SpeedBead hits RI!!

Featured Replies

So Wayne got up here Thursday, after realizing that 5pm isn't the most opportune time to hit NYC. Ugh. Lesson learned. We hooked him up with some grub and settled in for the fun weekend to come. (Wayne,....tell them,....tell them I can eat! lol)

We got out Friday only to have our butts handed to us. No bite (well, 2 dinks, they don't count unless you're Burley, lol), the last 2 weeks have shown us a shut down like I can't remember ever seeing before. We had fun though, Wayne got a good view of Lake X and all her glory while we got to know each other a bit more. Good fun.

Friday evening found us out on the bay looking for Bluefish but this lockdown has not been isolated to freshwater. The Blues have been in hiding also, for over a week now. Just wierd,....plain WIERD. Either way, it was a beautiful night to be out on the salt.

Saturday morning was "game day" as the 3rd annual Providence CAST event got under way. Mass Mike (Aquahombre) also came down from Mass and he and Wayne turned into my right hand men for the day. A real big help, thanks guys. The day was a resounding success, video to follow, and we got to turn on 31 more kids to this sport we are all so passionate about.

Kids will be kids.....SWORD FIGHT!!!

After the event, we all went back to my place for some pizza's and a quick nap. Not planned but we all fell flat like rag dolls, lol. Awake at 6p and back on the water at Lake "X" by 7:30p. We met up with an old friend of mine (Uncle Vinny) who lives on the lake and I hopped on with him while Wayne and Mike took Big Red.

and then Wayne got what he came for, a Lake X 4 lbr. on a slammer while we were rafted up. (Yes, it's all on video ;) stay tuned, SpeedBead is the next rockstar in an LBH production, coming soon :) ) Barometer is breaking, the bite is on it's way back.

Wayne was a great guest, welcome here any time, just like every other BassResourcer I've ever had here.  A big help this weekend and an overall class act.

A special "Thanks" to Mike and Wayne for travelling to support the cause, I/we really appreiate it.

Till next time.........

Well, that about seals the deal,...I'll start researching :)

It's a new world my man,....it ain't easy going back ............................so we didn't. Swimbaits all weekend. I actually caught my first bass on one of Matt's baits, the baby bass made my night!!  Plan on seeing more Matt Lures products in my videos, honestly,....this fish, although not very big, was the one that finally made the puzzle pieces fit together.  A valuable tool.

Hey Russ,

You haven't really fished with Wayne until about the third day. He starts to sing old rock songs and acts out 'super bowl' beer commercials. LOL

Glad you guys had a good time. What wouldn't I have given to be there.

Thanks for the pics and congratulations on another successful RI CAST event!!

Keep on keepin on!

Ronnie

WTG and thanks for being so involved with the youth......just can't say enough thanks to you guys and gals that put on and support these types of events. "Our world is great" because of folks like you.

I agree with this 100%. Those kids are in good hands.

Well, what can I say that Russ didnt cover....

The first night up there was AWESOME!!!  For a little runt, I will have to finally admit that Russ can cook and also eat a ton!!!!  LOL

Will try for a pic of dinner tonight after I get home.

Lake X is everything you could ever want in a fishery.  Humps, points, rock piles, stick ups, deep ridges and weeds.  Just a ridiculous combination of clean water, structure and apparently genetics.  Needless to say, I WILL BE BACK.

Russ has some great friends up there, all very welcoming to the "out of towner."  Dirk (Eric) is freaking hilarious.  Everything you see in the "Dirk Files" is not an act, no lie.   ;D  The Ex-future-father-in-law/fishing partner, Vinny the Paint Dr., Masshole Mike, Stratosdad (Tin's Father)....I was introduced to so many great people, my head is still spinning.

Honestly, the 6 hours for a normal trip up didnt seem that long of a drive.....if you add another 2+ hours to get through NYC, that was somewhat irritating.  On the bright side, I had never seen the city before and the sheer size and number of people there were INSANE.  You dont see things like that in the PA hills...

Running around in the salt was great, fishing in fresh was great, food was great......Seeing the looks on the kids' faces at the CAST event was the icing on the cake.

Putting a smile on their faces, if even for a moment, is something I will look back on and cherish forever.  If you have never been to one of these events, trust me, it will touch you when you see what a difference you can make in a child's life.

I can see why CAST and Russ are such a perfect fit.  If you surround yourself with good, positive people, your life will be a reflection of that.  I got to see it firsthand last weekend.

Gotta get back to work.  Catch 'em up.

Wayne

PS....Brent, I threw the "*" reference in the siggy line for ya buddy.   ;)

No matter where SPEEDBEAD goes he is an excellent fishing companion and a great ambassador for this sport and a representsative of the lesser part of the state of PA ;D
