took a little break from bassin' today and caught this nice cat.  not huge, probably only a little over 10 pounds, but still a lot of fun on light spinning tackle.  hope y'all are gettin' a few too. :)

Great Cat Paul....I've been whackin them too by accident recently over moss beds at night on Rage Shad and Toads. Seems to always happen this time of year, the cats get active at night and slam your topwaters and spinnerbaits. Lotta fun though..huh

I think this happend to me last week. I had a fish just destroy my Spro frog and I got a quick look at it's top fin and tale. The thing was huge and I couldn't pull him out of the weeds and lilly pads no matter how hard I pulled. I was going to wade out and get him when the frog finally came out. I figure it was either a state record bass (+13lbs) or a very nice cat. It's killing not knowing the awnser.  ;D

Dave,

That was the biggest bass in the entire state of Maryland.

Had you caught it you would have pushed Bassboy15 over the edge and into a mental hospital.  ;D

I serouisly swear by hot dogs for cats. I've caught a crap load of them on them and they stay on a trebble hook so much better then the other stink baits. Although I did catch a 50+ pound cat while bluegill fishing with worms when I was 14.

Reminds me of what a friend's dad used to say when we would go Oscar Mayer fishing..."hot dogs are for people who are too lazy to dig worms."

(but they sure do work!)

;D

That had to be fun! Nice fish Paul.

Way to make the best of a picnic lunch!

Hey, we used to fish for carp with hot dog pieces, and we discovered that the white-hots float. "Walking the Dog" could take on a whole new meaning.

I got one too, yesterday, while crawling a worm through an opening in a weedy flat. Thought it was a bass until it started that twisting maneuver cats do; The big ones I call "cinder blocks with fins". I'd have kept it for dinner, but I'm certainly not going to put a spiny thing like that anywhere near my float tube! But I could bring a fillet knife.
